Default ReaComp Very Loud Volume Spikes

I don't know what it's exactly causing it, but ReaComp keeps emitting very, very loud volume spikes. And I'm not talking of 2-3 dB, but like 40-50. If Reaper wouldn't have the automute function I would have some serious ear damage by now.

Can someone investigate this?

This is the effects chain I'm working with and ReaComp is in the middle:

EDIT: It's not ReaComp because I've switched to ReaXcomp and I get the same spikes.

Whats prior to the chain on display? Is this an audio-track or a bus/parent?

It's the Master Track, so it's getting the whole mix. It's gonna be difficult to understand what's causing that. My first clue was that there was some kind of bug in ReEQ since it's the plugin right before ReaComp (when I tried to use ReaXcomp I put it in the same chain position)
