Default ASIO4ALL

I am using UCA202 audio interface but it only records in mono in Reaper and elsewhere. I downloaded ASIO4ALL driver and for a while that fixed it, but now it has gone back to recording in mono (the left input records on both L and R channels, while the right input doesn't record at all.) Yes I have the track switched to stereo. What is happening? Could it be Windows 10 automatic updates have messed it up? Note: in Control Panel>Sound>Recording, Line in is listed as Realtek, not plugged in, while the UCU202 is only listed under Microphone which would probably make it mono?

Check if the input range is set correctly under Preferences > Audio > Device.

As example: for a stereo input range this can look something like this (or however the inputs are named in your case):
- first input: input 1/left
- last input: input 2/right

Or in other words: make sure that the same mono input is not selected for both (first and last input).

Thanks for the reply.

Under Preferences>Audio>Device it has

Audio System ASIO
ASIO Driver ASIO4ALLv2
Enable inputs first 1:USB Audio CODEC 1
last 2:USB Audio CODEC 2

ASIO Configuration - nothing is checked
Audio thread priority ASIO Default/MMCSS Pro Audio/Time Critical

This seems OK, so far (EDIT: assuming these are the UCA202 inputs enabled in the ASIO4ALL Panel).

General info about troubleshooting ASIO4ALL can be found here: https://www.image-line.com/support/f...s_asio4all.htm

---------------

Otherwise, did you already try one of the following things (to rule out a faulty cable or connection)??
  • Connecting the UC202 to a different USB port
  • Using a different audio cable (connected to the UCA202 inputs)
  • Maybe also try reinstalling ASIO4ALL, just in case

In addition to my previous post:

Does it make any difference when using, for instance, WASAPI as Audio System (instead of ASIO)?
In this case, also check if the UCA202 is set as the default Playback/Recording device in the Windows Sound Settings: (Control Panel>Sound>Playback/Recording)

If the problem persists, can you maybe post screenshots of the Track (Routing and Recording) settings?

I've fixed it! Although I had the drop-down menu under IN set to Record: input (force stereo), on L under the red record arm light, it was set to Mono CODEC 1. Now I've set it to Stereo USB Audio CODEC 1/USB Audio CODEC 2, and it works fine. Thank you for your help.
