Default How to record MIDI and convert to WAV

We are using Band In A Box to create song files and one of it's major weaknesses is that once the song file is passed through Real Band (Win user) the drums are a single WAV file and can't be broken up or edited.

I want to be able to manipulate the individual kit pieces, for example a bit of verb on the snare only and boost the snare & hat in the solo or feature a roll around the kit fill without bring the whole kit up.

From BIAB I can export the project as MIDI files, drum kit is still a single track but by creating individual tracks for kick, snare, toms etc and piping the BIAB file to them and using MIDI Note Filter I can get the individual drums into separate tracks and solo them etc.

I haven't been able to record the incoming MIDI information to the individual tracks and from there Render/Freeze the stems.

I have no doubt it can be done but for once the school of the internet isn't helping.

Has anyone done this and can point me in the right direction

Thanks in advance

You easily can send Midi from BiaB to Reaper using e.g. LoopMidi.

But as BiaB creates a much better drum experience by means of "RealDrums", than you ever can get by using a drum sample library, it does not make much sense in the case you describe.

Hi, you can get an FX that is triggered by the drum, snare hihat ect and that in turn can trigger a sample. So you drumming is the same timing wise but some sounds may be replaced. Then you can process each part separately, obviously you would need good samples to keep quality up ..dave

If you had Band in a box 2019 version or later you could open it as a vst and drag and drop track/tracks to the daw.
I did it with Realband tracks and it worked fine.
Took a while to find out the place to click for dragging.
It is in the little square where the track number is.

I have BIAB 2020 Ultra and yes I know how the VST component works and also dropping Realband tracks in but that isn't what I'm trying to achieve.

I have used Senheiser Drumica which does break the kit up with up to 13 mic positions so very flexible.

Once I get this sorted if I can I'll have a template built where I can drop the BIAB drum MIDI in and via the note filter have the individual tracks I want.
