Default Help with MPC 2000xl and Reaper sync

Hi all,

I have read through various posts on here, searched and tried the things suggested and need some help to clarify a few things.

So this is how my set up was link.

MPC midi out was set to MTC 30 Frames
Reaper, I believe was set up as the slave (it had a padlock on the play button)

When I pressed play on the MPC, Reaper would start a bit later and would catch up with itself by about the 4th or 5th bar (I had both tempos set to the same BPM)

All the settings in Reaper regarding midi sync threw me. I didn't really get what they were all for and couldn't find anything that said 30 Frames for the MTC.

My goal is to sequence Vst's in Reaper using the MPC as the master clock. Also I would like to have audio tracks playing at the same time in Reaper.
So to do this I want to ensure that the timing of the midi from the MPC is in time with Reaper.

I read the manual re Midi sync as well.

I thought about programming a snare on every beat (via midi) and then having the Reaper metronome going as well so I can sync the two sounds to each other (like beat matching records) and then try to figure out how to compensate for any latency.

Any help or tips would be most appreciated.

I got a bit further with this today.

My MPC is as follows

Midi Time Code out
Frame Rate: 30

Send MMC:Off

Sync in is 'Off' . I figure I dont need it if MPC is the master ?

So I can now press play on the mpc and Reaper will play.

However when I am recording if I press stop on the MPC Reaper will just keep going.

Also...there seems to be some lag between Reaper and MPC. Ie the kick on beat one and everything thereafter always appears a smidge after the beat on the timeline in Reaper

I'm figuring there are setting I need to adjust but I not 100% sure which.
