Reaper 6 Armed Meters Issue
Hi. I've noticed that by default all meters for armed tracks during playback show pure blood red with no colors. This is very difficult to work with. And of course the workaround to wanting to see "normal" mainly all green and peak red meters is just to unarm tracks you want to see and meter normally but this is tedious in large projects.
How can I set Reaper to show all meters ALWAYS using the traditional all green meters, then yellow and red as needed when clipping etc.?
The pure blood red metering with armed tracks is just overkill when I have 20 + tracks armed and I want a quick glance at metering. I have to unarm them then rearm them over and over to meter. This is not good.

Please, anyone? My eyes just cannot get used to seeing blood red meters all the time when recording and armed. I always think there is something "wrong" or clipping and it's impossible to read red numbers over a red solid bar over red background meterings.
Please. Thank you.
I've tried to hack the theme but is it a PNG or a preference for armed meter colors please? I only see the normal meter strips for PNG in the theme zip.

I found this in the rtconfig. Can anyone tell me how to keep the meters the same as unarmed? For RecArmed.

My recording meters have always been red, and the only way to meter anything that’s already recorded is to disarm, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Ctrl+Click any record arm button to toggle all tracks. (???)

I would like the Reaper 5 default metering colors while armed just like unarmed colors. The greens, yellows, and red clips with no blood red background and solid red meters from top to bottom please. I believe it's an rtconfig edit but I need help from a kind soul who knows how.

I can't imagine tracking a live show and looking at blood red meters on a blood red background meter with blood red numbers all night long. Quickly try to see if I'm clipping on a track or not in the mixer. I just can't do that. Who?

For my own usage all I had to do was take 3 meter files from my v5 theme and put them in my v6 theme.
meter_strip_h.png
meter_strip_v.png
meter_strip_v_rms.png
I never liked REAPER 5 meters so used the ones from this theme
The numbers are still red, but doesn't bother me.

Red numbers are FINE, but the red on red on red on red BUT with black numbers??! is just crazy. There is no way this can be called "easy to read", especially from across a studio or a long night of live tracking.
Reaper 5 vs 6 metering images. Why this change is beyond me but I'd prefer to have the old green yellow red meters as we'll all used to. Thank you!!
Reaper 6 has blood red meters and invisible black metering numbers while armed and tracking. Yikes. Look quick, without seeing the clipping red box, quickly see what your levels are and how close you are to clipping. Staring at blood red all session long haha good luck.
Below shows the Reaper 5 and more distinction between.

Ok. Blood red orange with dark black meters. Still, unreadable by default IMO by comparison to earlier colorings. Just look at the black numbers

You can remove the record/ armed text color change on the meters by deleting the " ?recarm" entry along with the bracket and numbers that immediately follow it.

Li'l help? I've located/copies the three files you mentioned in the v.5 theme. Then what? I've tried to copy them into the v6 theme zip file, but can't. So how do I put those three files into the v.6 theme, and to where should they be copied?

I open v6 theme with Winrar (any zip app should work), and open the "Default_6.0_unpacked" folder inside, then drag-drop the files into it. Start REAPER (Or just refresh theme?) to see changes.

Yeah, I tried that earlier and got an "Access denied" error (Windows 10). Thanks for the instructions, tho. I'm using 7Zip if that matters. I'll DL Winrar and see if that works.

Never seen that, Exit Reaper first? Or maybe start your zip app as admin? Right click exe / shortcut > Run As as admin.
Note, You can also delete those meter png files from the v6 theme, the meters would then use the meter colors set in the theme tweaker.

I just use default size, but if you're using 150% or 200% then you probably need to change the files in the 150/200 sub folders.

After replacing those three files in the v.6 theme, I'm still getting the orange meter levels. I tried the theme tweaker, but no luck.

It removes the record/ armed text color change when the track is armed.
The meter colors themselves are controlled by the following image files:
meter_strip_h.png
meter_strip_v.png
meter_strip_v_rms.png (used on MCP Master only)

Ohhhhhhh I see now. Thank you. I appreciate it. How does someone only change the font of the meter numbers themselves? Like, say I wanted them to be solid white, or 16px stuff like that. Is that an rtconfig or a PNG?

You're welcome.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think the font for the Meter numbers are changeable, except for color.
You can change the color by changing the the first 4 sets of numbers between the last set of brackets
The " 255 255 255 60" set that is there already is bright white, I believe.

How did you get segmented meters with the default Reaper 6 theme? I didn’t see that option in the tweaker.

Show theme tweak/configuration window,
Set filter to VU,
Enable > Theme has interlaced VU meters.
