Default How do I punch in /w multipletakes & a headsup [SOLVED]

Hey.

I know how to set up a punch-in to fix a mistake, have it loop and record multiple takes, BUT I can't figure out how to have the playback start a few beats before the loop?!

I tried going in the metronome setting and adding the function to preroll a few beat before, but it only does it one time; the first time, then it just loop around the section that needs to be fixed.

How can I set up a heads-up so I can listen to the song, get in the groove, punch-in, AND do it again and again /w the preroll everytime, until I have enough solid takes?

Hi,

Have you tried 'auto-punch-selected-items' recording mode? (right-click the record button.

Slice the item to the required punch-in/punch-out length, then set your loop points.

...

Alternately - you could user the 'auto-punch-time-selection' mode.

Unlink loop-points and time-selection.

Set time-selection to punch-in/out area

Set loop points to taste

For me the key realisation was that loop points and time selection could (and need to be) unlinked as Robu has mentioned. By default (I think) they are linked but maybe it would be better if they were not?

That's it!

1) Select: 'auto-punch-time-selection' mode.

2) Unlink loop-points and time-selection.

3) Set time-selection to punch-in/out area

4) Set loop points to taste

And yes by default the are linked. To unlink go to OPTIONS then uncheck the "Loop points linked to time selection"

Thanks a bunch, now I can do multiple takes in punch-in situations. What a relief.
