Can Thinkpad T470 replace a 2009 Mac Pro (Desktop)?
Thinking about getting a laptop that can also replace my aging mac pro. I would dock the laptop most of the time at home but then be able to work remotely when necessary and have one unified system (no worry about transfering files, licenses etc...) For work I do audio production and use pro tools (because you pretty have to) and for music I use reaper of course.
Right now, the choice is between the Thinkpad P51 or T470, leaning towards the less powered T470 because of the weight and lack of numpad (which throws the whole keyboard off center).
On paper, it's better than the Mac Pro, but can a laptop really perform as well as a desktop computer for music production? What about overheating, etc.
I guess my question is are there other factors at play here or can I just rely on the specs alone?
