Default New (3.0) Theme - Unempty Minima 73

Merry christmas all!

My second attempt at a theme for REAPER (3 alpha).
I'll be releasing a couple variations of this as well, in different color schemes. 68 and 80 coming up.

Hope you like it.

Download Unempty Minima 73

Cheers!

Cool

The top left buttons and the overall colour are great. It's interesting that you have not gone for the transparent fader knobs. I wonder if this new feature will go by the wayside.

I feel the working area should be lighter. There needs to be a bit of contrast between the mixers and the more defined editing area. This is really a personal thing.

Again, the colours are sublime, I love the track tints, the little oval automation button and the lime coloured VU metering. I hope you continue to perfect this one, it's a great Cubase replacement theme. Sweet

Nice theme.

I can't help noticing that the timeline text and clock text are a bit... um... dark. I'd go with the same grey shade you have on the track text.

Default Hm.

Apparently I am alone in finding light script on dark background very wearing on the eyes, not to mention being very hard to read.

So many people seem to go for these "moody, brooding, dark" setups, I am beginning to weonder if there is just something wrong with my eyes.

Fantastic work dln!
I really like the way you've done the io,env & fx section on the tcp.
Especially the env. and fx buttons are great!
Good job, keep going with the colorvariations. May I suggest a light version (hint, hint)

Transparent faders are nothing new, they've been possible ever since the alphachanneled png support. See WT's Elevator theme.

Nice work. I like your color choices.

The thing I am interested in the most when it comes to themeing Reaper at the moment is a good solution to clearly tell items in the different selection states from each other in respect to custom track/item colors. Also muted items are a bit difficult to handle for me.
How did you solve that? Could you post a screenshot with items in the different selection/mute states on colored tracks? I'd really appreciate some creative input on that matter. Nice job in the midi editor in that aspect, by the way.

Thumbs up

Am I the only one thinking of "PEZ" when looking at that transport bar?

Nope I prefer light, spacious themes. Dark ones are so cramped looking and hard to make anything out. That's why I prefer the Cubase interface.

At least it is themable. Some apps like FL Studio have awful gui's with tiny text and everything dark and are impossible for me to work with.

I agree. See 'Easy on the Eyes' & PT4 (my current fave) for my preference. That said, I appreciate the time and effort spent by the author of any theme. Their work makes it possible for everyone to have choices, and keeps REAPERing fun

Incredible theme and SO HAPPY that you have joined in theming, as you are very talented, way beyond me. One bug I found though- if you minimize the TCP (drag to where you only see the Mute and Solo, the backgrounds of the buttons is pushed behind the name_bg. Since the name_bg is dark it's quite hard to see, but I wanted to point this out.

Love your theme and colours, man. This one is actually one of the most similar to the personal theme I made for myself, the biggest difference being I don`t use many pics and backgrounds, mostly default icons and everything default, with my choice of colours. Thanks!

and cheers!

Haha . . . SWEET! An updated version of what has been my favourite/default theme for the majority of my time using Reaper! Cheers!

Of all the colour schemes I've seen in themes so far, those colours overall really seem to be the easiest on my eye, and see to be the most conducive to creativity (for me).

beautiful... I'd love to see a brighter variation (not white, not too bright, easy on the eyes)

Thanks, man. I'm really glad you like it. Easy on the eyes is a wicked theme. Nice, very clear and great usability.

Ah, nice catch. I've posted an updated version that fixes this issue.

A lighter (80) variation is under way.

Cheers!

great work once more,
I'd recommend not to use a 'floppy' as the save icon.
(that's one thing I'm glad the new default theme changed)

dln - this looks aesthetically stunning. Congrats!

Personally I - and I know many others - can't work with "dark" themes unfortunately. DAWs with much, much lighter colors just seems more natural to me.

Do you think there's any way you could create a light version of this? By light I'm talking proper light greys and perhaps beiges... so lighter than say White Tie's version 2.99 theme. The overall contrast of the Classic REAPER theme but with the amazing graphics you've created for this 3.0 theme, with your funky colors to contrast the greys as well.

If you could pull that off, IMO we'd be talking the new REAPER default and something to match the best stuff out there

Cheers

Ben

We could do with a v3 update of Easy on the eyes too It opens but the tracks look flat and lifeless compared to the new versions (and I don't know how to fix them)

To update 'Easy on the Eyes' very quickly. Copy all the images from the default theme over the images in EOTHE's image folder, but don't let it replace any. This way you are just adding the new elements (keyboard, shadowed media files...).

Now it looks all modern and stuff.

Awesome theme! I'll use this along with my mod of Tallisman's Reabendo mkIII.
Thanks for the effort!

That is BRILLIANT!! Totally raised the bar! I especially like the mixer - very easy to 'read' - the only downside for me is the transport control, I found it lacked definition somehow. Too many colours maybe?

But - besides that - GREAT THEME!! - THANK YOU!!

Default Simply amazinglicious!!

DLN!!
Amazing work, this is now my favorite and everyday theme i will be using. The theme inspires you to work with Reaper, that just me and especially with the latest Alpha 2 features etc... simply great job and kudos to Cockos Team.

Only thing i don't like or i don't find goes with your theme is the transport bar choice icons, other than that it's amazing!

Thanx for sharing and i vote also for a lighter or a bit brighter version!

Cheeeeeeeeeers!

Woah! I like it a lot - in fact first theme that I have found cool with nearly v3.0

Just wondering why your transport buttons are - well they work wonderfully in terms of contrast to the rest of the theme - so almost unskinned. Hope thins makes sense

Not a criticism, as I say nice and clear, just wondering thats all

Awesome!

I love this theme.

Funny part is, I'd D/L'ed it and have been using it with 2.5x.....I just totally realized it's a V3 theme upon finding this thread.

Too funny....looks like I'm set to roll into V3 now! Heh.

My thoughts exactly - somehow transport buttons just don`t look right... and I would change the font colour on the timeline to white for easier readability.

But everything else, especially the choice of colours and the icons is just top-notch. It`s my absolutely favourite theme.

Cheers!

Yeah, I think they fit the theme just fine. The whole theme to me looks very analog, for lack of a better term, and the transport buttons seem perfect to me.

this is definitely in my top 3. fantastic work!

I did notice that the on-track FX and track lock buttons are a bit off the vertical center...

I'm not too picky. it's still wonderful and my current skin of choice. I thought you might want it brought to your attention though.

My first impression was that the right edge of the TCP labels look like faders. Confusing to me.

Good work on all the other elements.
