Reaper Midi Capabilities VS Cubase MIDI
I wanted to know if Reaper can work with midi in a way similar to the features you have in CUBASE or Nuendo.
I have a friend who edits music for movies and is really very accustomed to work with Cubase due to the broad capacity of it when handling MIDI notes, for example: iterative quantizing, making adjustments on the grid to stretch or shrink a sequence or generate a crescendo without impacting the tempo of the video track, multiply the speed of the notes when we realize that a loop is half or double the speed ...
Also, imagine several midi sequences of different tempo on the same project, all that is normally used to make movies, sequences, etc ...
Therefore, is Reaper capable of handling these functionalities through itself or through some SWS extension?
Of course, very grateful for the answer!

Short answer: Probably.
Longer answer: In terms of what you can do with MIDI, Reaper is more powerful than pretty much anything else. However, it's not always the most user-friendly about showing where/how to do it. Some features from Cubase would need a script in Reaper, and a few things (changing the order of notes in a drum map to put all the tom hits together, etc) simply can't be done.

I`m pretty sure it will be hard/nerdy to implement from Cockos side, but I guess it is possible to write combo ReaScript + JSFX for renaming and remapping notes with GUI or alphabetically. So in REAPER (almost) nothing is impossible

How can you do iterative quantization in Reaper, like in Cubase?
How can you quantize at the region level? Not the event level, default.
Soft? Hard?

- Soft + Iterative quantization are just quantization with the strength < 100%, no?
- Not sure what you mean by "region level" quantization.
