If we have been using the 6.0 alpha themes with 5.x versions, do we have to do anything special to be using the true 6.0 theme? Or is installing 6.0 and using that default theme enough?

Default New template

And the new template with implements of version 6.0 theme adjuster. It would be very welcome for translators like me.

Thanks Devs!

The outdated license prompt shows some incorrect info:

It should be v6.x and v5.x respectively.

When both notes and events are drawn to grid and you click on a previously selected note, the right-hand point (relative to the note) disappears:

This is massive stuff - thanks a load!!!

Wow! I wasn't expecting this so suddenly! Lots of goodies to investigate here!

One thing I noticed is the sws builds on lol. Are they necessary in running V6 rc1 or will the last installed sws build work?

Good stuff but everything is the same for me.

Important expectations that come to my mind;

. Playlist ( like pt, s1, logic...)
. Duplicate Tool : Active/Alternate Playlist, Automation, Inserts/Sends, Group,
. Edit & Mix Group
. Pro tools Style Ruler
. Alphabetic slots

and more but no need to count...

It's unnecessary to even think of it with Reaper 6. If it gives the same performance enough for me.

Good stuff, congratulations.

Very nice, seems like a lot of great additions and changes!

There seems to be a lot of adjustments to the MIDI editor. Any news as to whether the bug of step input not correctly entering in notes at the edit cursor has been fixed?

(For reference, https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=222626 )

The fact that wires in track routing goes off screen can makes very difficult to understand to real destination of a wire. The example above is jus one wire, but imagine if where many.

Several ideas:
  • straight wires (with right angles) which don't goes off screen
  • mouse hover coler highlight for wires
  • Tooltip infos on mouse over for source / dest track.
Cheers !

Great to see V6.0 finally.

Does this V6.0 RC1 version include all new implementations (new theme included) or is it just a new iteration of V5.xxx?

Default VERY important bug

All blocks in Blocks (Tetris) are black, see attached screenshot. This obviously makes v6.0rc1 unusable for me...

Still, nothing new with media explorer. I really hope it will have something with this.
I work with so many libraries, searching for them manually was such a pain.

I'm not sure that it is a good idea to release v6.0 so early. There are still so many bugs and missing functions in some of REAPER's flagship features such as Automation Items. Would it not be better to promote these out of their beta stage before releasing v6.0?

i was dearly hoping that this would have been addressed in a v6 beta.

post 18, to which schwa asked that i bring it up in the next dev cycle

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=220649
(post 18) https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...2&postcount=18

issue - the disparity between "active" vs "inactive" midi items

i've been (hopefully) politely hammering this issue for quite a while and have not found a better way to manage it. single track + multi-item midi editing remains REAPER's achilles heel.

while i like the work done with midi cc curves, that new feature only hilights this underlying problem. REAPER supports multiple, overlapping cc curves (of the same parameter) better than it supports single, "monophonic" curves.

Who cares ? There were so many important new features between v5 and v6 that would be worth it a major version in other softwares...

That v6 rc is a very fine birthday present for me ! (not sure the devs made it intentionally )

this behavior (overlapping CC on same lane) should never be permitted.
curves drawn across items should reference each other, so that the curve is unbroken

ReaEQ in MCP window is not height enough : curve at the top is not visible.
Also I find the dot too big.

This is definitely a live-with-it, at least for now. What is being drawn is what will play back (by default*); each item will interpolate evens from its own curve, just as in previous versions of REAPER each item would play back its own CC events. Basically, don't overlap media items that both have CC data on the same control/channel.

* the exception is that the display will not match playback if the item mix behavior is set to the non-default "items always replace earlier items". It's reasonable to not display the overlapping part of the earlier item in that case, so we can make that change for a later version.

Track wiring is, for me, totally unusable because there's no left-to-right order option (Master on the right), and with moderately sized projects it is just completely not helpful because you can't even see where the cables are going (as X-Raym showed).

Great news,

Is the GUI supposed to be blurry as shown here? (see the main toolbar for example)

I'm running on win 10 pro x64, with a resolution of 125%. All other applications fits correctly, excepted Reaper 6rc1 and, surprisingly (jfyi), the Max devices of Ableton Live 10.

even if you don't overlap midi items, you still end up with this:

what i'm hearing is that, if they expect a consistent editing workflow,
users should not be using multiple items in a midi track.
this makes section movement and duplication a huge pain
to say nothing about "zoom to contents" in the midi editor

(I use custom actions + scripts + cycle actions but you can use it principles)

this is easier said than done. in the following use case, a user might want to begin recording notes/cc via midi
overdub in the empty space between existent items. (time selection provides the bounds for the newly created midi item)

note that if pitchbend was recorded in the new midi recording seen above, you'd end up with overlapping items that
both have CC data on the same control/channel. this will make for the incomprehensible editing scenario i posted
previously, even if the CCs aren't necessarily in the same place at the same time.

basically, this behavior is going to result in user confusion. it's just going to happen.

Default MIDI Editor starts lagging considerably when maximized

Hello, thank you so much for everything you do!

I am on 2015 Macbook Pro OSX 10.14

MIDI Editor starts lagging considerably when maximized:

MIDI editor works pretty well in all sizes and dockings. But when the MIDI Editor window is maximized it is impossible to work with. It starts freezing.

Great job. Well done!
It would be great to be able to enlarge individually the tracks that contain the cocko's effects, a bit like the floating individual master.
And one day with all the other effects.
I'm dreaming!
Sorry about the off topic.

Another user has reported something similar in the macOS forum: MIDI editing is so hard to do, slow, sticky and not comfortable immediately reacting, but I'm not sure whether the other user is using a dev version.

I'm fully with Julian on this one. I saw the V6 default theme has also gone to RC1. Pretty much the first time in history something has gone from an Alpha to an RC that I know of. It's not even close to being done (which WT will be the first to admit).

I mean no offense by this whatsoever, but this is a really messy way of doing this. The RC1 seems very arbitrary and forced.
