There is no sound in Reaper
Hello all!
About a half year ago I paid 72$ for Reaper making sound, but not 60$, how it written on site. And it is the second time, that there is no sound in Reaper. Can anybody say me what`s the matter?
Thanks

Have you followed the instructions on videos and/or user guide for how to set up?
If so, please describe what steps you have taken so we can diagnose what has gone wrong.

REAPER sounds feature come only with the business pricing option. 😉
Joke apart, there are tons of reason why sounds might come off, and non are related to to price, some aren't related to reaper either. How many reports of peopple who just forgot to plug the headphones or turn on the speakers, or they forgot one track is on solo...
So better send screenshots and system info than invoice reciepe ^^
The higher price is tax and is local, not due to cockos directly but to your state/country. 60$ is without taxes pricing.

*Insert joke about taxing the sound interface*
Sometimes in the Windows version you may find upon start up another program still has control over the sound interface. Pressing play on the transport in Reaper corrects this and enables the sound interface within Reaper.
FWIW this is independent of the release version of Reaper.
You can see the information on the sound interface in the top right hand corner.
Otherwise it could be your MIDI controller. Go into preferences and reset midi devices.

Re the cost to you, this is a function of whatever your local sales tax is. The pre-tax price is always $60, so the balance is caused by your government taking sales tax from Cockos, not Cockos making extra money.
As far as your sound disappearance is concerned, have you downloaded & read the free user guide and/or watched the free video tutorials yet? They are both available at reaper.fm
I would suggest that you download the current version of reaper and click on the "portable install" button when you install it. This will give you a new, completely self-contained version of reaper set to the original settings.
If it works OK, this would indicate that you have changed something in the setup of your current version that is causing the loss of sound.
Next step is to have a look at your reaper.ini file and the reaper.ini file created in the new version & see where there are differences.
This should give you a start on running down what is causing the problem, so let us know what you come up with.
Two other useful things for new users.
Google and download an e-booklet called "Glitch Free" which tells you how to set up a Windows computer for the best audio/MIDI recording performance.
Download resplendence.com`s latency monitor & run it on your machine. It will give you information on how well (or otherwise) your machine is running and offer suggestions on how to fix if it discovers any problems.
Hopefully all of this will help you gain more confidence & more knowledge on how to work Reaper the best way for you.

Why not sit down with a friend or relative who has some working knowledge of Windows/Mac to help you?

Just go to Options>Preferences>Audio>Device>Audio System and switch it from Wave Out to ASIO, Or the other way around.
I bet you the price of your sales tax that will do the trick

be fair, X-Raym, it`s pretty obvious the OP does not have english as the first language, so any misunderstanding like this is only to be expected.

I thought the poll was funny too, and am not surprised to see so many get the answer right.
I think someone understood it's an opportunity for a higher learning- to help newbs get the hang of why Reaper is as complex as it is and snap us out of this "sound good/no sound bad" mentality that a lot of us probably start out with.
I dunno, just my thoughts on it

Ask this to a guy sitting in prison for reckless fraud, or the guy sitting in a Tiki hut bar in Maui after cashing his insurance claim and you might get two difference answers XD

Is this intended to be a poll for a 'transparent' (ie non-coloring) DAW vs something like Harrison Mixbus?
I vote for "no sound". (non-coloring)
You didn't really post a poll thread asking how many other people fat finger something to cut their sound and then can't figure out what they did, right? (Like you were pretending that Reaper's code suddenly changed or something and it was silent now due to a design issue.)

No man. It's not that deep. Hence, the parody polls.

I don't about any parody polls. I thought it was a profound question, hence the pubic hair on tooth brush poll I put forth afterward.
I haven't heard of the Harrison Mixbus Daw either, but curious what you see as different about it, and why the sound/no sound issue would be relevant from one to the other.
As far as
transparent, coloring, non-coloring aspect of a DAW goes I am lost, but am obviously all ears.
What's really funny to me is how many people got the answer right (imo) to this particular poll, only because they just thought they were being funny. I'd really like to see that poll

Nor do I, but if you can combine it with Softsynth's 'nature's free dental floss", I'd sure like to borrow it

Saving on dental floss. Every penny counts.
