FX chain window background colors - not tweakable?
Are the colors of windows like the FX chain window (the white window which just has a list of your selected tracks' plugins) hard-coded in REAPER?
Seems like themes never change the color of these windows and the theme tweaker has nothing that points to them?
I'd _really_ like to change the spartan white color to something that fits my theme. Any hacks out there?

They are set in your OS style / scheme, not in Reaper.

...really?
I'm on windows 10. Just changed my theme and juggled appearance settings with no difference in reaper? Can you be specific as to what windows setting affects the background?
I'm talking specifically about the FX Chain window, which I've never ever seen as anything but basic off-white all around.

I do not know as I've never done it. Some others have (in Windows 7, at least).

I thought I was the only OCD on this forum. It was becoming a little annoying as I am using The Dark Default Scheme.
Quick way on Win 7: Right-click on any empty space on the desktop and select Personalize from the drop-down menu. Select one of the High Contrast Themes with a Black Background. Now the FX Chain window will blend in better. When you are finished with Reaper, just switch back to your usual theme.
However......
If you're as anal as me you can get a closer match by going back to the old XP menu which gives much more control of the theme:- BG Colour, Icon Spacing, etc. etc.
In the Personalization window, click Window Colour option at the bottom. In the next window there lots of pretty pastel squares...at the bottom is: Advanced appearance settings...Go Mad

Hi occultron,
as DS wrote, REAPER uses the OS colors, and they are not tweakable within REAPER. But I made a thread with a workaround for that, maybe that is what you want: " How to: change the color of your FX-windows with 3 clicks". Works on W10, should work with W7 too.

What do you mean "not tweakable by reaper"? The suggested solutions - btw - require me to PATCH MY PC... and essentially risk breaking my entire installation.
There is this Spy++ tool It shows what window class that is. Turns out here is a runnable, simple example on how to tweak the background color of SysListView32 class:
