there is no sixth version, they are jumping to seven

justin said it has something to do with a 3rd party library they are connecting to that references reaper object using 'v6' designation and it would cause confusion and require a lot of additional programming to using 'v6*'... 'v7*' was decided as a way to bring you the new version faster... also, schwa envisioned, during his daily fortune telling ritual, that v6.66 would be problematic and he's trying to become less of an enemy with the devil since that one time he stole his cousin's chocolate bar (an unforgivable act, satan plays a hard game)

of course they run into additional issue going to v7 because when they hit 7.77 the famous pizza delivery franchise "Pizza 777" will pay a visit to Justin's home and demand a refund... refund for what exactly? I dunno, the owner is canadian and he's nice and all but a bit strange... then the man at the door peaks through to the living room where he sees white tie dancing and he can't help himself and begins to move with the beat... soon enough, everyone is break dancing, taking turns on the mat, justin does his famous head spin and breaks his record with 31 consecutive turns followed by a stomach pump fish flip and the crowd goes wild...

or maybe not, nobody really knows...

v5 was in public testing for the better part of a year. v6's public testing hasn't even been hinted at, so...

Users get really mad if you promise a release date and miss it, or if you release and there are bugs. Even just saying "maybe the end of November" is enough that people expect it to happen.

They also don't want to discuss plans for future releases in case other companies see what they're thinking of and beat them to it.
