Default Update 5.5.1: VSTs not recognized

Has anyone else experienced this? I installed the latest update. Now Reaper can't load a number of VSTs like Ambiance and Jamstix 2. The dll are just where they were before, and the path is valid.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Have you CLEAR/re-scanned? Could be as simple as that. If I recall at least Jamstix puts its stuff in a non-standard location, so this could be the trouble - worth double-double checking the paths are still correct.

And of course this could also be a microsoft related issue if you are on Windows.

Also worth noting that Ambiance is very old and 32bit as well. Who knows?

Thanks. I checked the paths, cleared and rescanned. Paths are fine, plugins still not working. These plugins have worked perfectly for as long as I've been using Reaper, and Ambiance is one I have used daily. Suddenly, applied the latest update and now several plugins aren't working. So the update broke something.

So far everything fine here. The VST seem to load faster than before but it may be my imagination.

Thanks. I figured it couldn't be just me. If you hear of a workaround or a fix, please let me know.

Default vst crahsed

I have a similar problem when installing the last update when trying to load a plugin the program hangs and can not load, uninstalled and installed again, so that was okay, but when using a vst when I was loading another plugin the same problem. Would it be 32 bit compatibility of some old plugins? (use windows 7 64)

I've had this problem too. Sometimes plugins would disappear, including waves, and some line 6 stuff.

Yeh, I've had this problem with a few VST's which work in other DAW's. I deleted some and reinstalled into the same folder and most are now back (which doesn't make sense), but a few are not. The path's are all correct (proved by my other DAW's recognising them). The missing vst's are 32 bit, which may have something to do with it. I'll post if I sus it...maybe the Tips & Tricks, will help.
