Default Render Settings for YouTube? Share Preset?

Hello, I just thought I'd ask and see if someone would take pity on my poor soul and share a video render preset that they KNOW works on YouTube?

My videos will be roughly about 5-10 minutes on average and will just be edited video with some music and voiceover.

Could somebody either 1) share settings, or 2) send me a preset file?

Much appreciated!!!!

samsaraguitars@gmail.com or possibly upload here?

Love this community! Thanks in advance.

If I'm right, Youtube systematically reencode video to its taste. Better start with a good quality H.264 encoding or similar.

Always upload in 4K if you dont want it to lose quality. YT's re-encoding has been a nightmare keeping footage clear on the animations I've been doing if its uploaded at anything other than 4K+.

This is where I start I think -

I dunno what that crf option thing is, thats new recently and I havent looked it up yet, but it was causing low quality transitions between images on a recent slideshow I put together, so I guess I can partly guess what its doing from that

Your bitrate seems way low FYI which is probably why - it should be more like 40Mb/s (40000) instead of 2048 Kbs. Also, YT has all the info for the best settings:

4K does seem to down-sample better than uploading 1080p but still 2048kbs is very low based on YTs specs and my experience.

Marvelous, thanks. I havent done any video since May last year, except the one video I did last week which looked great but was just a slideshow. And now you mention it, I did have that number up around 20k+ back in May. I'd totally forgotten everything and wondered if it should be changed. Thanks for the info! I'll use it later today!

Reaper really could do with 4K options on the drop down menu, it stops at 1080p

How do the video bitrate and the "crf=1: h264 high quality" settings relate?
Do they adjust the same thing in a different way or are they independent settings?

I'm getting about the same file size 1.2GB for a 3:12 video, no matter if I render in HD or 4K resolution.
What am I doing wrong?

It seems that the crf setting might override the bitrate setting is that the case in Reaper too?
