Rather than a bunch of links, some of which are duplicates, I've compiled a powerful & useful list of ~15 suites which goes IN-DEPTH into each suite/soft here
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...x1TirK/pubhtml documenting: * Convention (fuma/ambix) * Price * Inputs * Order * Manipulators * Effects * Meters * Converter * Decoder * Notes |

Well done, a very useful document.
But the Facebook 360 suite is not limited to 8 channels TBE and supports up to 3rd order regular ambisonics. TBE is actually only needed for exporting video for compatible players. |

Ooh.... What have I gotten myself into here?!!!
Seriously though, good stuff guys. I'll go through all this over the weekend and update the lists. Junh, that's a great resource you have compiled. I'll add a link to the top of the software list for easy reference. IMHO, your list will be a good companion to the clickable links.

Apologies everyone. It's been a crazy week here and I haven't had a chance to go through these lists yet. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get everything done this weekend.

Ambisonics Using Facebook Plugin Suite
I haven't yet looked into compatibility of the Facebook plugin suite mentioned in the following blog about Ambisonics in ProTools but it is an interesting read/watch.
I have yet to listen to the audio from these videos on headphones but I'm keen to hear how effective the Facebook suite is at creating Binaural output. Have a look at this... Ambisonics in ProTools

Rather than create a NEW thread for every new software that we find and litter the forum with 30 dead threads over some months, why not just re-use this thread to discuss new software? Then we can reference the links into the 1st post easier, and consolidate discussion.
(or would people rather make a dedicated thread for this kinda stuff?) Most of us already have "mature" workflows . As we probably won't switch , the discussion of new softwares will probably die down quickly, as we have seen. If the need arises, we can make new threads for active discussion. @Dave: We don't mind if you're late to reply. We understand implicitly without you needing to tell us. I have a few replies to do , too, as I wasn't aware of those threads until recently. |

For the record, that topic isn't so much about ProTools (I have no desire to go back there) but more about the Facebook plugins.

As the maker of the Acousmodules series (http://acousmodules.free.fr) I am obviously happy with 3rd party tools ;-)
But I know also that most people relay on integrated ones, and since ambisonics is now fashionable and since a HOA panner is a lot easier to conceive than the ReaSurround, so why not in Reaper like in Protools and Nuendo ? |

Here's a link just posted to the sursound mailing list of a documentary about Michael Gerzon and his pioneering work on Ambisonics.

For my own sanity, I tried to organise the information about free spatialisation plugins into a somewhat structured list.
It's a bit too long for a direct post, so if anyone's interested, you can find it here: https://github.com/emarsk/junk/blob/.../Ambisonics.md |

Quick update:
I had initially planned to amend my list in the first post of this thread as others added their resources. However, given the amount and detail you've all provided here already, it would be somewhat redundant and very time consuming to consolidate it all in my original post. It is great to see so many good contributions here.

Plugin Alliance have some very high quality plugins in their catalogue and they recently added the option of a subscription model. The plugins can still be purchased outright and I have a lot of them. I also now have a subscription which gives me access to everything in their catalog.
Ok, enough of the Plugin Alliance promo (no, I don't work for them and am not paid by them!). The point of this reply is to mention that they have two very useful Ambisonic plugins in their catalogue that are well worth investigating. DearVR Pro is a tool to place an object into a 3D space. It outputs multiple formats including Binaural and Ambisonic (up to third order). Here's the link... https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/p...earvr_pro.html They also offer a basic version called DearVR Music.

Ambisonics visualiser
Hi ReaDave
Thanks so much for such a concise and thorough list. It has been really useful as a beginner. I am wondering can you advise, is there a free ambisonics visualiser - say, similar to Harpex-B? Obviously Harpex-B is a valid consideration, and I think it comes with a 30 day trial, but do you know of anything similar and open source? Like I said, I'm just starting out so it could be an obvious answer. I use the ATK pack and have some DearReality stuff. But mostly working with Reaper ATK Many thanks! O3A Flare in the free Blue Ripple Sound core package has a similar look to the visualization. If you want the multiple discrete signal tracking behaviour then sldoa from the free Sparta plugin package is closest that I've found to it.

Best me to it plush2! Blue Ripple Core suite with the visualizer was going to be my exact suggestion.
buaic_, welcome aboard! Glad this list has been useful for you.

MeldaProduction : nearly all the plugins support now up to 64 channels I/O !
Since they process "only" all the channels in parallel, they can be used in every multichannel based projects, with or without ambisonics. The FreeBundle is especially interesting ;-) https://www.meldaproduction.com/about/news/273 |

Yes. Great news indeed!
I recommend the dynamic eq. Insanely powerful, especially now it can process Ambisonic!

Sound Particles - Space Controller is a fairly interesting development in spatial audio panning for a host like Reaper. I have enjoyed the basic version and maybe will see to justifying an upgrade to Studio in the future.

The last surround mix I did was over 10 years ago for Allan Holdsworth’s Live at Yoshi’s DVD. I want to gain a workable understanding of all that has changed since 5.1 DVD audio (seems quite a bit).
I know we recently gained many new/enhanced features with ReaSurround, but I’m having trouble understanding how it all fits together. Are there standards in the process or only in the final deliverables? I’m particularly interested in the process for creating/delivering audio for VR like Oculus, which I understand involves some kind of head tracker. I say this to hopefully help convey what I do/don’t know. It seems a faq would be helpful, either on this post or a separate post, but for now I’m just seeking a little direction, whether directly, suggested reading, etc. Thank! |

my 4 cents
Maybe I'll add spatial/ambisonic/binaural tools I've found so far:
- The ICST ambisonic plugins: https://ambisonics.ch/page/icst-ambisonics-plugins - SoundField by RODE VST plugin: https://rode.com/en/software/soundfield-by-rode - Resonance Audio monitor by Google (binauraliser used by YouTube): https://resonance-audio.github.io/re...etting-started - and my biggest recent find: EBU EAR production suite (to work with Audio Definition Models in Reaper): https://github.com/ebu/ear-production-suite/ |

On a related note, I purchased a Rode Soundfield NT-SF1 recently and love it. The Rode plugin produces very good spatial results with this mic, particularly given it is first order. It does have a tendency to be a little crash prone though but it only seems to happen occasionally and only when I'm tweaking something. I have saved my most used configurations as presets now and it hasn't crashed when it just sits on a track doing its decoding job.

I've just discovered Audio Brewers ambisonic plugins and will reach out to Alejandro regarding these. I haven't made a purchase yet but have seen some of the YouTube videos and these have me very interested.
Audio Brewers Ambisonic Tools I have added these to the first post in this sticky. Has anyone else been using these?

Toneboosters have some nice tools and creative effects that work up to 3rd order. The new EQ pro is up to 7th order, and you can embed it in Reaper's TCP. Keeping an eye out for future plugins and updates from them. I wonder if they will come with higher channel counts and TCP embed too?
No ugly auth system like ilok, and reasonable prices. Quote:

I've had some great email communication with Alejandro over the last few days and let him know about this topic too. I've just picked up licenses for the encoder, upscaler and HOA decoder and will install them shortly. Really looking forward to giving these a run and testing the upscaler with my Rode Soundfield NT-SF1 recordings.
