Default Some Tracks In Session Started Stuttering - Why?

I've had this happen several times and I don't know why.
I opened a session I had been working on and now some of the tracks in the session are stuttering - like the audio is cutting in and out.

I've tried restarting my Mac, turning off wi-fi, etc.

CPU usage is at 23%

Makes no sense.

Any ideas?

Have you tried a bigger "block size"? Like 2048, or even higher if available?

If you are editing or mixing, you don't need small block sizes: they are useful when tracking.

I'll try that next time it occurs.
Strangely, it randomly stops and all is well...... until next time.

Ok... it's doing it again. Changed block size to 2048 and no difference.

Next finger pointing: access to the storage. Where is the Reaper session stored? What could hinder access to the media where the session is stored?

And back to the audio interface: when it happens, try the Mac built-in audio interface, just to see if it makes a difference.

I have tried this and it doesn't make any difference.

I'm not sure this works 100% of the time (will have to keep track now) but I think restarting my computer resolves the issue.

Preference > buffering > render ahead :

set it higher, default is 200ms, I use a lotta heavy plugin for coloring.. so 800ms wrks for me.

also, upgrading the CPU might helps a lot.
