Default Mixer Volume/Fader Control Doesn't Stay Put

Setup:
Reaper v5.27
M-Audio Oxygen61 MKIV
Korg Kross Workstation
Focusrite Scarlett 6i6

-------------
Initiate a new instrument track for the Oxygen 61 to listen on Channel 1
Initiate a new track for the Korg Kross and assign it to inputs 3-4 on Focusrite
Have the mixer volume set for -inf on both channels.
Record some stuff using the M-Audio. Records fine and volume stays where I set it.
When I change an instrument on the Korg Kross (track 2), the mixer volume drops to the bottom of the graphic on track 1 and I have to reset it.

------------

Is there something I am missing here? Why would anything I do on track 2, affect track 1?

This sounds like a failed fader.

I had this happen on a VS880. It was a relatively simple thimg to replace the bad faders.

The biggest challenge may be locating a replacement part.

I don't know your hardware, but if there is a test or diagnostic mode, that will help you identify which fader has quit.

This has nothing to do with physical sliders, knobs, etc.
This is happening in reaper itself when ever there is any change on the Kross (track 2) to track 1.
