Anyway to see the outgoing notes from plugins - without recording them?
I have a plugin here called Chordspace that basically maps out music theory and lets a user connect midi notes with various chord forms arranged relative to cadence functions and such.
I have everything working as far as auditioning the chords, but the creator hasn't specified what notes are connected with a number of his hex numbers (which he has allowed one to map to MIDI notes in a customizable way. )
What I thought I was going to do was place a MIDI clip on the track that's receiving the notes from the plugin (which are playing back on a vst instrument on that track that are received from the chordspace track.)
But whereas piano rolls in other DAWs might perhaps sometimes display such routed MIDI NOTES (lighting up the notes on the piano roll) - I dunno - maybe Logic would allow that - I am not seeing any way to do this within Reaper. The notes are recordable, but I can't audition them.
The Reaper virtual MIDI keyboard isn't showing them either.
Rather than recording them all and tying them together with the hex numbers, does one view the notes coming thru?
