Hi,
I'm completely new to Reaper, I switched from Logic Pro 9.
My old mac's (2007; still running OSX 10.6.8) needed replacement and because I stopped working as a music professional I decided that for hobby, a +/- $1200 PC, might do the job "just as good" as a new + $3000 Apple.
One great advantage of Reaper (and PC) is the fact that a lot of allready unsuported (on OSX anyway) plugins seem to work great.
Last 4 weeks I've tested Reaper, and yesterday I bought my license.
Although I mainly do Midi-production and orchestration, I was a bit hesitant, because of a lot of different opinions about the MIDI editor, but I think it suites me well.
It turns out to be a steep learning curve, but a rewarding one.
A lot of features I first thought where lacking, turned out to be there, if you just know where to look.
And ofcourse when you switch you always win some and lose some.
There are however a few things I run into and I'm not sure I'm missing something here...
Hope that someone can shed some light;
-When I have Reaper running and I open a standalone Instrument, (tried it with Kontakt, East West Play and BFD3) Reaper "kind of" freezes.
Kind of, because I can open and close plugins, save, close, etc. But when I play my keyboard no midi is received. Also starting the track (Play) with the spacebar doesn't work....?
During testing and adjusting settings, I also noticed that sometimes when I had a podcast in the backround, more or less the same thing happend with the audio. Just silence...
Saving and restarting the software always solves this issue, and if Reaper is started as last, there is also no issue.
Its not a big issue, but it feels a bid fiddly/wobbly...
-An other small issue I noticed was with the reaverb. It all works great, but when I set the Pre-Reverb,I can't put it back. Visually I can. When i place it back to 0 it stays there, and the graphics adjust according, but the latency stays there.
This might be a bug.
I'm really curious whether someone can explain me why the audio, midi and playback stops, or if someone recognizes this behavior.
Thanks and greetings.
Oh BTW, it is greate to see how much info there is allready in on this forum.
Without it the learning curve would be almost impossible
