You could put the amp into a head cab. Depending on cosmetics, you would be fine leaving the speakers in the current cab. It can be much less of a chore to carry a head and cab vs. a boat-anchor combo amp. I hate moving around big combo amps, especially a fender twin. Those things are heavy as F*&)k. I am definitely putting my twin into a head cab before I ever do any gigging with it.

If you really like the amp, another alternative is a portable dolly.

The Laney VC-15 is a great amp I've had my e for 6 or 7 years played many gigs with it... I also have the ZT lunchbox some one else mentioned and it's also a great and very small amp.

If you can get your hands on one of these you'll be suprised.

I think my next amp will also be a small one. Those little Vox AC10's sound good and have some nice character that is pretty far and away from Fender and Marshall style amps. But they are built so cheesy with a partial smd pcb crammed into a small enclosed space that I wouldn't feel confident with reliability and the ability to be repaired when something does eventually goes wrong (it will). And digital reverb is lame in comparison to spring reverb in a guitar amp. Maybe someone will offer up an AC10 kit amp at some point. The sound, 10" speaker format, and size/weight of that amp is attractive, but not if it is an eventual throwaway amp.

The Vox stuff is further down on my radar - but I have found I really have to try an amp with the pedals I use normally in order to make a decision. Problem is, I also need to use the amp for a gig. I wish we had a place locally that could rent amps.

the peavey just SANG out at a gig (my drummer has one) and I was sold.

I have to hear the vox amps with my pedals - as well as the one above.

I did this with my 6505 2x12 because hauling a 90+ pound box up the stairs is just too much fun. Still heavy, but it's at least split into two, and the gaping hole in the combo is a great place to leave my pedalboard when I'm not using it.

Absolutely! I have the earlier Statesman 2x EL84 with 1 12 inch speaker & it is great. Sort of a vox ac 15 on steroids. Excellent clean AND a decent overdriven channel, very flexible fx routing and a decent tank reverb.

I use it exclusively for my high-output/humbucker guitars and it is perfect for me.

Check out the Award Session Blues Baby 22. Great little amp and very light weight.

You don't need an FX loop with a fender style amp thats never going to be more than slightly broken up. keep in mind EVH ran all of his FX straight into a dimed Marshall. Word has it he had good tone...
