cant we just change this FR to "allow anything to snap to anything?" all i want is to be able to snap to midi notes. i find it strange how you can get certain elements to snap to others even with the reverse is not true. each major element should have a list of possible things it can snap to that we choose independently. dont see any reason for it to be so limited.

Just voted here too. Would love all these snapping options, especially "Snap cursor to item's edge when clicking the ruler (timeline)."

Dont forget that trimming and fades would also need to be part of this modus operandi. We would also need the option to choose sample based or tick based tracks on a per track basis.
I voted long ago but giving this another bump.

Hi All.
Part of this request will be coming soon to Reaper 4.
1. Snap to Sample Rate
2. Cursor snaps to items edge's when clicking the ruler (timeline)
Thanks Cockos!
What's Needed
1. Markers to item edge
2. Time Selection to media item edge.
Thanks, Wyatt

Cursor can snap to start/end of an item.
But not Time Selection.

The cursor will snap to items edge's when clicking on the ruler in Reaper Version 4. You can adjust the settings to your liking by changing the snap distance. Make sure that the snap cursor to media items on any track is checked. If you want this setting to stay the default, you must goto project settings, and click on save as default project settings.
Here's the results
I think the only thing that's left is markers, and fades.
Edit: The cursor does snap to time selection starts, and ends.

Cursor can snap to Item's edges in the arranger area, too. But I'm not sure you can create a Time Selection from the Item's edges, with Snap on. Not that that's important. But I think that's what I meant in my previous post.
Could be wrong, i'd have to try again.

Here's whats needed also. It's been mentioned a few times recently.
Loop ends snap to media items start, and endings. It's already in the request, and is in the mockup that Mercado Negro did.

Just voted. Really would like to be able to snap the time selection to the grid, or to transients, etc. Hopefully one day!
EDIT: Would also like to snap either time selection edge (or cursor etc) to the next zero crossing....obviously there would have to be some threshold set where this zero-crossing snap would only be activated when the view was zoomed in pretty far, but it could be very useful in those circumstances.
(EDIT2: Just discovered I can snap the time selection to the grid, so disregard 5hat part)

Voted for this.
What would also be handy is not just markers, but regions too: if you adjust the region start or end point, it would snap to item edges. That would be handy.

In hope that the devs see this. Please, can you guys add this?
If so, you could almost mark this entire request off the list.
I think the only thing left, would be the markers snapping to items edge.

I've (finally) made the switch to Reaper and the lack of this feature is absolutely driving me nuts. I REGULARLY make renders of time selections snapped to the end of the last clip, not being able to quickly do this is leaving me pretty bummed.

I feel like I missed something , but FWIW, with this key map just select the starting item, press the magic key of your choice, and your time is selected to the end. Until such time as the time selection is snapable.

Another possibility would be to add time selection to the mouse modifiers list.
Something like
Time selection: Left Drag
Snap to media item on any track
Snap to media item on selected track
Etc.
Etc.
Kinda like the "media item fade" "Just move" that's kinda hidden in the modifiers.

June 2015 Bump!
I would pay an extra $100.00 if Reaper had this feature.
Time selection snaps to item starts and ends.
Samplitude has this as well.

For this, I use the following action
Time Selection : Set time selection to items
I mapped this action to a key, select my items, press that key, and that's it

This only works for selected items.
If I have a multitrack project with many tracks, and want to get from point A to B, a quick mouse sweep across the ruler to make a time selection would snap the loop points to any items start and ends of choice, regardless if items are selected or not.
It's a simple request.

Select items, right-click on either end of time selection
Didn't realize this until I dug around for it, I miss some snapping options too but this covers the main one for me: making a time selection which ends perfectly at the beginning and end of one or more items (in my case usually so I can render just what I need).
Just select the item(s) which span the time you want, then right-click on the beginning or end of the time selection (the little triangles at each end of the time selection in the ruler) and choose "Set selection to items"

Another bump. I miss this feature so much while editing. Setting time selection for selected items is more of a hack than a real alternative to this.

The original request for this was posted on 05-22-2008.
7 years, and most of the request has been implemented, except for the time selection part and markers.
Please devs, can we have this?
Thanks!
