Default Routing question

Say I have a bunch of acoustic instruments and I send them all to an acoustic instrument folder track so I have one fader to control their volume.

Now, I want to pan these acoustic instruments individually.

1. is it best to pan them in the send/receive window and leave them centered on the mixer?
2. is it best to pan them on the mixer and leave them centered in the send/receive window?
3. does it, in fact, make no diffeence which you do?

Thanks for any help

I would set the send post fader, leave the send pan centered and use the channel pan

it doesn't make any difference sonically. but as i assume you have send to parent/master switched off on the individual tracks it's way more convenient to be able to pan on the mixer, right?

Thank you. I'm glad about that because workflow-wise its clearly better to do pan from the mixer channel.
