I wouldn't know yet.

I'm looking forward to running it after I get some other things squared away though.

Rock on Cockos for making Reaper on Linux a reality!

Look forward to hearing your thoughts when you do.
I tried a few of the pre-releases but this version was the tipping point for me.

Havn't come across little niggles yet, and I'm sure they're there.

Installer is brilliant and then add in Linvst to convert all your vsts in one hit. if 5.94 is not there yet, it's bloody close enough

btw bdub it doesn't interfere with the wine version

I'm probably complicating things for myself here, but my plan for moving to linux native Reaper has become to go vst-free/wine-free. I want a setup that is as simple as possible (yay alsa audio/midi), has good solid low latency performance, and is easy to troubleshoot when things do go wrong. And part of that is continuing to wrap my head around jsfx for some functionality that I want without having to be dependent upon windows native plugins and wine, which requires bigger blocks of time for tinkering when my time isn't being eaten by work, family issues, getting back into playing drums, keeping up on politics, and wasted moments inbetween. So I'm very glad to see Reaper arrive to this point, and I want to just jump back in right now. But I can't be in a hurry.

I had picked up an older laptop for linux/reaper so that I could get reaper set up without having to deal with changing up my windows machines just yet, but the screen on that thing wants to burn out my eyeballs and the speakers think they are playing for ants. So the new plan (and probably better) is to ditch that laptop, set up my desktop for that purpose, replace the laptop with something else that will become my new general purpose daily driver (my main laptop is literally falling apart at the seems after many years of use).

Also, since my drum module/interface doesn't have a linux driver, I am considering ditching it for a megadrum trigger module which does have a linux driver and doesn't have the artificial limitations of the roland module. But this is a minor point, since I can run MIDI out from the module to my main interface. But I would like to get it squared away nonetheless.

Complications.

Congrats Cockos team, this is IMO a major version! I just switched from Jack to Alsa inthe new 5.94. All my midi and audio hardware work like a charm. I will still keep a Windows box running aside to host some windows only vst plugins.

Having purchased Reaper about 5 years ago and forgotten about it for a while, I am super pleased to not only see a native linux version but even one for the Raspberry pi!
Thank you Cockos!
That said, I also have worked with Harrison Mixbus for a while before coming back and now I really appreciate how smooth and easy the GUI is, plus the scripting API seems way more advanced.
I registered to the forum just so I can say thank you
I've been almost exclusively computing and making music on Linux for the last ten years

Hi, I suggest getting an external case with a cheap ssd, you'll get a lot
(not all) of the ssd speed, and you can boot from it, to test
safely until satisfied. Keep the windows setup for a few things not yet
working natively or in wine, and some downloads/storage space to save
some r/w cycles on the ssd. Keep 15% of the ssd as unallocated space,
for the ssd to do it's internal management,
put two partitions on the ssd, / and /home/brainwreck
so you can do new test installs, while keeping most of your settings
and eyeCandies intact, not needing to re-format /home/brainwreck

Cheers
