Default Question re: reaper.GetMediaSourceType

Hey guys,

syntax questions.

I found this very cool function that will return what the type of item it is... MIDI, Wav etc...

Code:
typebuf = reaper.GetMediaSourceType( source, typebuf )
I can get it to work but typing literally anything in quotes for "typebuf" in the parenthesis (example):

Code:
typebuf = reaper.GetMediaSourceType( source, "blabla")
It seems to work no matter what string I type in that place. If so, why even have that as an option? Am I missing something?

Thanks.

It's for purposes of the other programming languages, not used for Lua code.

Ahh... ok. So that makes sense. I didn't find any mention of that for that function in the API docs.

Thanks a bunch Xenakios!!
