Default Cancel Render = BLAST OF SOUND

I don't suppose there's any way to have Reaper muted for a second after cancelling a render?

If that's happening, then it should be considered a bug...

...yeah, this is beyond annoying at this point.

I just rendered a selected time area, and was rewarded with a gigantic full scale tom "BOOM" when it finished.

In the meantime, there's a setting in the prefs that automutes Reaper with too loud sounds. Maybe activating could help with that.

Preferences -> Audio: Mute/Solo -> Mute "when volume exceeds"-settings.

@mods
Could you move this thread to BugReports?

Yeah, I've already got that set.

I'm sure it's the byproduct of having tails enabled and standard VSTi settings, but it just seems like suddenly with the last V6 previews and now V6 I'm grimacing in anticipation for when a render finishes.

So maybe it is a bug, but nobody else seems to be complaining, so.... "?"

Which plugins do you use, when that happens?
And Windows, Mac or Linux?
32 or 64 bits?

Sorry, I'll wait to see if anyone else has this issue before going on a goose chase, there are too many combinations/instances to consider. At this point I have to presume it's a confluence of settings.

I get that too and I think this volume pop is related or very similar. I hope they fix both.

I don't know, I don't use automation - this will happen if I have just 2 tracks rendering.

Seems to happen louder/worse if I hit "cancel" during a render. Now and then it doesn't happen on a full render.

Sometimes a VSTi "remnant", sometimes on an analog track, sometimes a reverb tail, sometimes a bass note. I'd say it's just time-domain tails, but it's not. I'd say it's just VSTi notes, but it's not. Sometimes it seems "aggravated" if I use a clipper on the 2 bus, but it will do it without anything on it.

It's kind of interesting to see what it's going to be at the end of a render. It also seems *random*, which is... baffling.

Regardless, it's very frakking annoying.

Yes it is frustrating. I have volume automation on my master track and I let the track play all the way to the end where the volume automation is gone all the way down to zero and then I let it play past that and when I hit stop on the transport the audio still blasts at me.
