Default New (free) ampsim: TSE X30

Hi guys

It's been a while since I've been active here..
I released a _highgain_ ampsim Monday, based on a German rack unit.. (Engl)

you'll find it at http://www.theserinaexperiment.net ..

Specs:
- 4X (internal) oversampling.
- Stereo / Dual mode.
- 2 channels crunch/lead. - 4 band EQ/Tonestack.

The stereo mode gives you two amps in one and can run two guitars simultaneusly (Left + Right channel).. This requires a stereo compatible impulse loader e.g. LeCab from LePou (you'll find a link at the website)..

Please move this if I posted in the wrong section..

- John

That is a fantastic demo tune. The guitars sound really nice, too. I'll have to play around with this one. Thank you!

Epic and very well composed demo. Please -very constructive critisism- get a real drummer to do at least the fills, and one of the cymbals is lagging. Beautiful tune.

Oh, nice amp too.

Sounds AWESOME!

But I guess there is some additional processing done on the demo, right?

Exzem posted this info about the guitar processing on the demo song on ultimatemetal.com:
Chain: Guitar (Ibanez RG321EX with EMG89/81) -> emu 0404 usb -> TSE X30 (settings) -> s-preshigh -> hp 80hz, lp 11500 hz.
EQ: -1.5 db cut at 210 hz (just to make a bit more room in the mix), 1.8db boost 7000 hz (make it sound a bit brighter). Medium sized Q for both. (Affecting around 150-350 for the 210 hz cut). -> Just a little bit of multiband compressing around 80-250 hz (don't really need much with the TSE, not that boomy)

The demo song makes me feel a tad pathetic, sitting here with my squeaking vst synths and stuff, but I guess thats what this kind of music does to me

Everytime i say "this is the best free amp sim", 2 weeks later another comes out and blows it away.
I got a feeling this is here to stay
This is a serious high gain beast.

Yeah, fantastic demo. I'll have to try this one out, maybe one of these sims can oust my sansamps at some point for high gain work.

Hi I reuploaded the plugin a few hours ago.. Maybe I did something wrong when I compiled last night.. Put only one file in the vst folder, the one you wish to use.. The reason is that both plugin uses the same vst ID and it might become a problem when there are two plugins with the same ID in the folder..

Please give me some feedback on your problem

Great amp sim, I'm getting some very good results with this and the Recabinet ir's using Boogex. I have to say that this is the best sounding sim for my taste of tones. However, I feel that the skin is a bit lacking for such a great tone. Any more plans on other skins? Perhaps even just a skinless version?

Nonetheless, great sounding amp - my new fav.!! What was your inspiration when creating this?

I really like this ampsim, thanks for creating it. It's the kind of high gain tone I've been after, just great.

Also, superb job on the demo song. I really enjoy listening to it.

Thanks everyone for the critique
I'm working continously on the cpu usage, I'm trying to model the circuitry as good as I can, but there are some dirty tricks used in there that eats up cpu.. It's a bit better now though.. The first release used 3% cpu on my machine, and the last one 2% (on an Intel Q6600).. I uploaded an improved version 24 hours ago under the same version number (v1.02)..

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the sound of it The inspiration of this one was the Engl e530, but there are some changes done to tame the low end
I didn't make the skins for this one, there could come a skin update later..

I downloaded from site and still couldnt get it show up..I tried it in Reaper,Cakewalk Home Studio and Audacity. And neither of them would even show the plugin.I was starting to wonder If it might be because i was running Windows Fundamental..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows...for_Legacy_PCs
I reinstalled windows XP again. And for some reason It wont show up in Reaper. PC has a Athlon XP with Via KT880 chipset. Audigy 2 card all with latest drivers..
I have had a problem with a couple of plugins from AcmeBarGig,,But they would show up in list but would crash when trying to load them.

I was also thinking about something you said..About the VST I.D. numder?? I remember messing with synthedit and when you went to save it as a vst you had to give it a 4 digit id..Im starting to wonder If maybe one of the other vst's I have installed has same Id..as your plug in and thats why it wont show. I had a issue reinstalling simuanalog plugin that i never had in past..Reaper hung at scanning the DS-1 plugin .Had to delete it from vst folder for it to complete scan..But as popular as Simuanalog plugins are..If that were the issue others would be having same issue as i do..Ill try and make a new vst folder and put your plug in and have Reaper scan that folder with you plug in to see If that is the issue

Ok..I made some progress in narrowing it down..I created a vst folder on desktop and put plug in in it. Pointed Reaper to it and cleared cache and rescanned..It still didnt show up..I messed around with setting..Enabling DirectX plugins .that didnt work..But when I unchecked Get VST plugin name/type when scanning it showed up in list..But when I try to load it ..It said couldnt load plugin.Effect configuration preserved..Heres a screen shot of error window

Just wanted to post a little something I did this morning with this great sim.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/a9jp95

Guitar used is an Ibanez RGA42 with the Ibanez active pups - Modern Spacer for a little reverb - LOSER's Time Delayer - Boogex for the Recabinet Damien IR - and just a little eq boost at 5000 hz.

So, onqel
is there a chance you to be a fan of Symbyosis (french prog-metal band).
Your stuff sounds like a KILLA'!!!
Please let us know if you have more of these nice masterpieces.

If the guitar sound here is all done with TSE plugin then you are genius.

Ahem.

I tried to give it a new coat:

But alas, after an hour of troubleshooting and googling Gimp still doesn't allow me to use my freshly installed fonts for the textlabels. Really don't know what I did wrong, Gimp simply won't load any new font I throw at Windows (other programs do, even Reaper prints its text in a daft gothic font I dl'led). Rescan, restart, recrash -Gimp isn't that stable- but no go.. If anybody has a clue?

(yes, that's a real 12AX7)

(btw, there was no .png for the knob in the resource, dunno where to look..)

...I guess the design is based on the 530:

..but this was the only decent pic I could find. Need a HiRes for proper theming. Anyone got a camera and a 530? Or a link to pressfiles from ENGL?

I worked hard for this and if this goes around without my signature on I would shit my pants :P

Ofcourse, but at the moment I cannot get any decent text on it, let alone your sig..

And I won't release a version, just put the .png up here for those who like to paste it into the plug. (When Gimp decides to cooperate, that is.)

This ampsim rocks! Very meaty stuff. I've used it with recabinet impulses and they work really well. And I think the GUI is ok as is.

This is hi gain beast but it sounds good to me with lower gain too. From now on I probably won't use my amp except for feedback... (epi valve junior is ok with big muff but naturally not in this territory).

Man that sounds great! If you can make this as a mac version, I'll make sure I donate $some. I have no idea how much work it involves though.

Forgive me for being dumb but
Can somebody explain what SSE2 is and what it does
I looked it up on the internet and it says it's a processor instruction set. How does that affect me? Which .dll should I use?

ongel, I also faced the Athlon issue: -all- SSE levels should be disabled. schwa explains that here: http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...4&postcount=22. I also faced this issue and tried to fix it by removing SSE2, but it's not suffisant, no SSE at all!
I'm waiting for a Athlon user to confirm, but I'm confident as he's able to scan my plug with such a build...

[edit] drugs, it's supposed to optimize perfs with "almost" all processors... "Almost" is the issue

Hi John,

Congrats on this masterpiece vst. It really sounds awesome in the song. I downloaded it immediately upon hearing the track. May I ask, what impulse/impulse loader was used for that track? Thanks.

Wow, the demo sounds fantastic. (The guitar sounds, I mean, but the song isn't half-bad either).

Downloading the plugin now. Thanks very much for sharing.

New update : version 1.03
-Improvements made on the tube model
-Removed/Changed unstable AA-filter
-Rewrote 50% of the filters
-Cpu optimizations, even faster code

lawrs: Impulse was Catharsis S-preshigh
Settings (in Exzem's demosong) :

Jeffos: Try the latest version and see if it shows up.. If not I have to recompile the WDL components :\
