Nice Update.
The 4 midi actions (grid/pixel lengthen/shorten) work here, and the markers, time selection, and region appear in the ME ok.
Can i ask that the 'strip' in the ME, in which the TS, Marker, and region appear, be a couple of pixels taller, as the three elements are squashed up a bit.
Thanks,
Alex.

Good update!
Look at Alex screenshot, please add a small space between the marker and the text (red marker , 123 text.) In the region marker this "space" is already added.
*Added tcp_main_namebg and mcp_main_namebg theme elements
Maybe i'm slow but what is this for?
(Edit: I've tested and know what it does, would be cool if we could rename the master tracks also)

I wondered too, but they are backgrounds for the "Master" text on the master channels.
That's what they do but what are they good for?, I dunno

This is NICE!...but you can't edit the marker names like you can on the main window. Double-click doesn't open the name dialog box.

What's the difference? New actions: mute/unmute, solo/unsolo (in addition to existing toggle) selected tracks.

Nice, but much more useful would be elements for the folder track backgrounds in the TCP and MCP, both normal and selected.
I only ask because development seems to be at an all-time record-breaking speed right now - and I'm a greedy, whiny bastard

Definitely would be great- MCP_folder_child_bg & TCP_folder_child_bg or something.

I would say the difference is that the current toggle action will reverse whatever the track status is at the time the action is called. So if already soloed, the selection will be unsoloed and vice versa.
The new actions define a precise status - so the action to solo will kick in if tracks in the selection are currently not soloed - but if they are already soloed it will leave them that way.
But I haven't had time to try them out yet ....

Regions & markers in the ME...that is wicked, I bet a lot of users have been waiting for that one.
Thanks Team!
* With so much midi love, does that mean soon we'll be able to copy/paint in selected groups of notes? (like we can Ctrl-Drag selected areas of items in the main window)
Either way it's a good feature worth mentioning ...

Please, please, please, if at all possible in the near future, adding the option to hide unused notes and reorder notes in the midi editor would put it over the top!!!! Just wanted to plug that in the pre thread.... Great job though to the Cockos crew!

hey schwa - as you're playing with the ruler/timeline in MIDI Editor, it does feel like a good moment to mention this long-standing issue:
During playback, the MIDI Editor cursor only updates during the timeline-visible part of the sequence. Maybe this was originally intended exactly as a way to show when the cursor is in the visible range, but really isn't an ideal way to do it.
The problem is it makes it very hard to do drop-in recordings anywhere near the start of a sequence while looking at the MIDI editor, since you can't watch the start position approaching on screen.
With the fantastic addition of markers to that view, it's going to be even more relevant to be able to see the cursor pass points coming up to the start of a visible sequence. But since we can't drag the left-edge of items further left, it's not easy to extend that visible range.
Here's a demo of the issue..
https://stash.reaper.fm/oldsb/54297/N...ut-of-view.RPP
It would help a lot if the cursor did move the whole time and really ideally we should be able to tell the where the visible section is at a glance from the MIDI Editor view - since it's all too easy to add notes at the end and not realise why they are not playing on the timeline!
In fact I know for some beginners, moving the green bar to the right and then adding notes seems like it should automatically extend the timeline item, but I understand the need for a distinction. I'm not sure if maybe even adjusting the visible boundaries of the current item might be possible in future, but for now being able to see clearly where they are is important.. and seeing a moving cursor is even moreso!
Thanks for all the great MIDI stuff,
drew

Haven't tried it yet, but the integration of midi and audio editing via markers and such pretty much solves my biggest outstanding FR. This release cycle (2.4x) looks like the biggest one for me - congratulations and thanks

Ahhh, the 'Hide' feature of Ableton Live! A huge ++1 to that.
That's probably more useful to me than nearly anything that could be implemented in the ME, seeing how drums use typically only 7-10 notes (a little more depending on the hats).
If we could toggle/remove all the unused pitches, you're left with a very simple view, without any vertical scrolling necessary...super easy to edit drums on.
I guess being able to shuffle their order wouldn't hurt either, but the first part would be a great start to editing supremacy.

Please make something for selected color rainbow behaviour: selected color should stay selected color. The current behaviour make the clip color almost unusable.

i don't agree. colored items should stay colored even on selection! borders for selected items would be more useful IMO.

Either method would be better than the current behaviour. Personally I'd go for Selected items staying the same colour whether custom coloured or not, but options is good also.

Aha! More great stuff!
^^^^ "Personally I'd go for Selected items staying the same colour whether custom coloured or not" Make that two, Bevoss! I'd prefer it that way too!

The 3 elements (TX, Marker, and Region) look tidier in the Midi Editor, so thanks for that.
If the marker is moved in the ME to the start, it disappears.
Not sure if this is intentional or not.
Same for the time selection. If it's moved to the start, it disappears, unless nudged slightly right.
Alex.

Heh, missed this whole thread till right now! Anyway, that feature sounds innovative and imaginative - I can't test right now 'cos my audio pc is running video captures at the moment but will have a go at it in the morning. Cheers!
