Noticed that this feature only works until you start/stop playback. If you edit an item with Melodyne as a per take FX then start playback, the feature no longer works after you stop playback and try to edit again. It returns to 5.972 behavior.
found that too.

I have "run fx on stop" disabled so that no cpu is taken up when reaper is stopped.

I found the reason for that. Melodyne by default is opening in Track Edit mode. Once Melodyne is open, there's a button on the toolbar to switch it to Clip Edit mode. At least the button is there in the Artist version, not sure about Essential. Click that button then the preview as an item FX works perfectly. It looks like they dropped this feature for the RC of this build.....too bad, hope it comes back, I did an entire afternoon of vocal harmonies on a few songs and it was stable. I have custom action to either render the item keeping the original with Melodyne, or another custom action that renders the item and removes the inactive take. Works great, just like I used to use it in SONAR.

Since 5.973 will address a potential UI slowdown, we want to get it out sooner than later, so it will really just be a bugfix release. The ARA take preview feature will be back in the next development build and if all goes well it will be in the next release after that. The CC envelope feature I expect will take months of development before we put it in a release.

Will this also fix the slow GUI issues in the CC lane and mixer?
Been reporting this for some while.

More specifically:

It *seems* to be Windows only. Justin incorporated some fixes for the sluggish MIDI editor and hand scrolling, which was a similar issue (in v5.90rc7 - May 21 2018)

+ MIDI editor: faster updating when using hand scrolling

So, I just found out that the "sluggish fader" movement in the mixer is caused by the REAPER tooltips. Turning them off makes the faders react like normal.
