Default Scrolling in the Midi Editor as i am in the Arange View

Hello,

I have set up my reaper pretty nice with a lot of tweaks and handlings wich i am ussed from PT.
But if i open the Midi Editor, nothing works as i want it to

Especially the scrolling and zooming. I want the Midi Editor to scroll and zoom as i have set it up in the arrange view. But i cant find an option in the preferences to link the arange behavior with the midi editor behavior nor can i find seperate actins for zooming in the midi editor...

Any Hints?

Thanks and have a good day!

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

There are a few options at your disposal, and many videos show Reaper's unbelievable flexibility with changing, saving and running new custom --> "Mouse Modifiers" either on www.Reaper.fm and YouTube, both ie Reaper Mania and The Reaper Blog's videos are very useful.

Check it out and see if it helps as a first step.

Good luck!

hey, and thanks for answering.
i used all of those options to set up everything as i want it to be. but it do not work in the midi editor.
most of my scrolling and zooming works with the mousewheel.

For example:
scrolling horizontally in the arrange view is "shift+mousewheel"

But it is not in the midi editor. and i can not find a way to change that, because in the action list, there is nothing to set up the mide editor seperately and in the mouse modifier setup i can not setup anything with mousewheel

yeah. i checked the video. but i already did all that sucsessfully. reaper behaves perfect. i made a lot of shortcuts and keycommands and mouse modyfier actions. i am happy with working in the arrange and mixer view.

But the important ones like scrolling and zooming do not work in the midi editor. or letz say, there are different keycommands for scrolling and zooming over there. but i want of course the same there as i have in the rest of reaper. thats what i am looking for.

Hi there - Try creating a midi clip and then double clicking on it to open the midi editor window. From there go to the menus and click on the action list. It opens a new set of actions (including zooming, scrolling etc) especially for the midi editor

Cheers

What's the secret? For me, all roads lead to the normal Actions list, and I can't find a way to make the scroll wheel scroll in the MIDI editor as it does in the Arrange view.

the action list has different sections. Look for the button at the top right that says Main or MIDI Editor.

zoom and scroll actions will be found by filtering the list for 'mousewheel'
