Default Midi Latency

When I hit a key on my Maschine mk1 I get a midi signal and it does trigger a note but there's latency, about half a beat of it. This has been the same when using midi keyboards too.

My CPU is i7 3.3Ghz 6-core.

I realise you cant get 0ms latency but I must be able to improve it?

Have you tried to lower the interface buffers?

What is your current buffer setting and in top right corner or Reaper what latency does it report?

The other thing that can add to the reported latency is certain plugins....particularly if they are on the master bus or in Monitor FX.

I'm not a latency expert but there is a FREE online book about optimizing your computer for low latency.

With a keyboard you can monitor the analog output while recording/capturing the MIDI. Your virtual instruments won't sound identical, but you should still be able to perform.
