Default Demo sounds waaay tooo slooow???

OK - as newbie as you can get - just downloaded Reaper to give it a try and it started with the BradSucks demo. When I try to play it, everything sounds like it is slowed down to about 20% speed and is distorted. I'm sure this has something to do with my settings, but I can't figure it out. Running Vista on 2.13 GHz Core2 with 2GB RAM. Sound card is SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme. Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like a problem with matching sampling rates. The default project sampling rate for Brad Sucks is 44.1 kHz. Try setting your sound card's sampling rate to 44.1kHz to see if that helps. While you are at it check to see if bit depth is set to 24 (default for the Brad Sucks project. Some of the earlier SoundBlaster drivers were a little tricky to deal with, and sometimes software I used with them had trouble matching sampling rates. Don't know about the recent SB products. Also check the Creative web-site to make sure that you have the latest drivers. If ASIO and WDM drivers are available try both.

EDIT: The Gizmo handle sounds familiar to me. Have you ever posted stuff on the n-track forum? Or maybe just my imagination...

Driver update did the trick! Thanks - now to see if I can start recording!

Never posted on n-track, by the way.
