Default Roland TD50 multitrack setup

Thanks for adding me to this forum!

I am a long-time drummer and brand new to recording as usually in a studio with a pro. I have a Mac and downloaded Reaper DAW. I downloaded the Roland USB driver and have the kit and computer talking. I loaded a track a guitar player sent ma and now am able to record the drums on a single track in Reaper.

Question:
* How do I assign a track for each drum feed like kick, snare, toms, etc.? Would like to gain greater control of the mix.

I am willing to pay for someone to tutor me as I would like to get back to focusing on playing and make the engineering piece as simple as possible.

BIG Thanks in advance

Hi,

Had a look at the td50 manual. It looks like there are 10 output channels available to reaper to record. You have to set them as available in reaper preferences/audio devices.

Then create 10 tracks in reaper ....setting each ones input to the different outputs coming from the TD.

You can then save these 10 tracks as a track template in reaper.

This is for recording the audio output of the TD into reaper.

You also have to have the TD sending the different instruments to the direct outs in the TD.

Think of it as up to ten mics ....and the USB cable is the snake going to reapers mixer.

Where are you located?

You can pm me if you'd like. I could probably tutor you via phone. But its not that hard.

Hi Guido -

BIG thanks for responding.

I set up the 10 tracks in Reaper. I see multiple tracks from the TD50. I can get all the individuals drums to record to a single track. I am having trouble in how to assign the individual drums to each Reaper track. I am sure it is my error.

I live in Northern California and would be honored if we could connect by phone or WebEx / Zoom to have you help me go the last mile.
