Default Dangerous bug in jsfx 'Guassian Noise Generator'

Schwa's 'Guassian Noise Generator' jsfx loads with 0db RMS output.

That's really loud. My ears are now very unhappy.

This plugin is included with Reaper so I am reporting this bug here.

Not sure if bug but -18 dB would certainly be a much safer default.

I was slightly unsure if I should consider this a bug, but considering that this could potentially damage human hearing or equipment...

I'm going to err on the side of hyperbole and extremism.

This is a bug, and it will kill someone... I'm sure of it.

It is a JSFX so anyone can edit the default value and save it for themselves, preferably under a (slightly) different name so it doesn't get overwritten when a new version of Reaper is installed.

Just change line 7, where it says
Code:
slider1:0<-120,6,0.1>Noise dB (RMS)
Instead of the first "0" there, put in "-18" as per ED's suggestion
Code:
slider1:-18<-120,6,0.1>Noise dB (RMS)

I'm still following the rules I've followed for 35 years now... got signal incoming/generated? Start with fader or volume down, no exceptions, ever.

I already did this, however I do not think that this should be distributed with Reaper.

"Oh, phantom's off, that's why there's no signal! I'll just turn it on..." :-)

Yes we'll change the default to -18dB... sorry! hopefully auto-mute caught it?

Similarly, apparently 'JS: Auto Expander' has an issue under certain settings. Jon mentioned in post #5 on this thread what triggers it:

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=1965083

With soft-knee engaged, output jumps to +5000dB.

Actually, I have auto-mute on and it didn't catch it for some reason.

I haven't had time to look in to why, but it's on my todo list.
