AU to VST or VST3

Hi everyone

I am using Reaper and love it. I am always in the doubt which plugin format to use. coming from years of Logic and Pro Tools terror, I am used to Audio Unit or RTAS / TDM / AAX plugin formats.

When I started to use Reaper naturally I started to use AU plugins as it seem the obvious choice on mac. On second thought though I kind of like the idea of having full compatibility with Windows (and Linux!), which doesn't use Audio Unit at all. Should I just start to use VST exclusively on Reaper?

is there a way for a song which utilise AU to have them converted to VST without having to redial the settings? would be great to have Reaper to do it automatically.

it is also possible to tell reaper to ignore AU plugins?

Also VST vs VST3?
