Viente's last activity was almost a month ago. Maybe someone should put it in the tracker? Seems to be simple enough to not require much explanation. Maybe just a link back here?

Draw a block with the mouse. Block zooms to fill the window. It's available in several contexts in mouse modifiers in preferences.

@FnA

thanks for explanation but i think it is different than what you are thinking.
I've found a video and it explains a marquee tool here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzV8YxXauX4

EDIT: Oh Marquee zoom for midi editor alright.. +1
For arrange view there is already this marquee zoom (Ctrl +Alt + RC drag)
But there isn't for Midi Editor Right..
I suggest someone post in the tracker and vote ^^

I am usually pessimistic with most of the FRs asked but in this case I think it would be possible ... we'll see ... obviously it is really useful.

+1

It really surprises me that more people haven't supported this FR in this post.

By the way ... it doesn't let me vote here:

I would actually prefer that this was accessible through right dragging.. already using all of my left click stuff.

I am surprised that this one has been around SO long & still not taken care of. It was one of my stumbling blocks when I first moved from Bars n P{ipes Pro (via Cakewalk Sonar) to Reaper.

Surely this & the other really really old FRs would benefit from a little extra consideration, devs?

Especially this one & the others relating to MIDI usability/editability.

Running 6.78 trial on a laptop with touchpad, yes this is awkward.

To select
- hold Ctrl in left hand,
- while holding right button on righthand
- while moving another right hand finger.

Let's say to do what I aimed for, to select all notes over a certain note number - this to switch to notation later to ensure they are all on upper staff.

To do this in notation editor is no chance to succeed.
