Default New track FX envelope points are inserted despite automation lane not armed (FIXED)

- create a new track
- insert a plug-in into its track fx
- set automation mode for the track to write
- create an automation lane for one of the fx parameters
- draw an automation envelope for the parameter
- add a second automation lane for another parameter
- set the first automation lane to not armed to protect it
- draw an automation envelope for the second parameter

New envelope points will be inserted into the first ("protected") envelope. They will be inserted at all locations where playback is started.

If the track has a volume and/or pan envelope as well (set to not armed for automation), those will NOT be affected by the issue.

If I understand the description correctly, "Write" only applies to capturing automation generated from CC messages from a MIDI controller, not to drawing with the mouse.

So it is possible to draw on any envelope lane (including Volume or Pan) no matter if the Automation Mode is "Write" and the lane is not "Write Armed"

thanks for your reply, DarkStar. New points are automatically created in the lane that is not armed even if no controller is connected, just by starting playback.

In the following animation, I simply hit play and points are added in the lane not armed at the position where I started playback. In addition, the points are not just added ON the curve so that they would not affect its shape.

And yes, it is possible to draw the envelope no matter which automation mode is set but I don't consider this as a bug.

another strange thing is that while overwriting a previous envelope with a new one, the existing points are reset some time ahead of the playback cursor. I would consider this as another bug.

I just hit play in the following animation.

OK, with that first animation, I now see what you mean.

Here is a duplicated track. I set the the lower track to "Write", and its first envelope lane to RecArm. On clicking Play (then Stop) without touching the sliders, points were added to both lanes; the first point added in each lane is the slider value.

I also observe your bugs (OSX.6.8 and Reaper 4.721): points added to un-armed tracks ahead of the playback cursor.

There is another major bug related: in write mode, un-armed lanes won't read.
