req: Glue items shortcut, Mute items shortcut, toggle Mute items shortcut, Duplicate items shortcut, Split items shortcut should work on both: Automations items and items. And maybe more! .. (help!?)
As it is now not user friendly at all and it is a workflow killer!
Please make this coherent.

5.77 enhanced the default "S" split option, you just need to highlight both the item(s) and the AI(s).
And there are actions for selected AIs you could assign to shortcuts,...
Envelope: Mute automation items (acts as a toggle, except when 2+ AIs are selected and mute states are not the same)
Envelope: Glue automation items
Envelope: Duplicate automation items

I am asking to be able to use the same shortcut as i use for items but applied on AIs too.
so that if i select AI or items both will split with same shortcut

Before 5.77 I made a custom action to split selected items and AIs and used "S" key, Maybe make a custom action for glue?,...
Custom: Glue Items and AIs
Item: Glue items
Envelope: Glue automation items
Tried one for mute but its messed up, AIs don't toggle their mute as expected unless all AIs mute states are the same, or they just all unmute!
Custom: Toggle Mute Items and AIs
Item properties: Toggle mute
Envelope: Mute automation items
Automation Items need a lot of work, whats really a huge drawback is none of the original envelope point actions/scripts work on points inside an AI, that just seems like a no-brainer but I guess is easier said then done.

I think this should be native! . Because otherwise every user will have to deal with this incoherences.

i'll add: duplicate, split, glue, toggle mute , mute should work with same shortcut on everything where applicable. Example: midi notes
so same shortcut works for Items, AI, midi notes or envelope points and maybe more things.
All this things are an headache in my point of view and DAW should take care and help us having a better/ simpler / pleasurable workflow.

I'd really like to see quick fades on the edges of ai. It would be a quick and intuitive way of transitioning from the background envelope to the ai

Request: Add Automation Items tab to Project Media/FX Bay.
Columns would include Item Name, Pool, Track, Length.
I know Automation Items can be saved but it would be nice if a whole bunch could be saved as a Bay.

when occupying media lanes, the namebar section of AIs block valuable track/item info, like in this gif it obscures the first midi note, and on media items, it blocks the item pitch adjust.
"show AI in dedicated lane" is not a viable workaround.
i don't even need to see the AI name bar unless it's selected, so a possible solution would be to hide that whole horizontal bar until the AI has been selected, and change the selection behavior from "lasso name bar" to "lasso within AI bounds"

After using action "Envelope: Convert all project automation to automation item", at the right edge of the created automation item, there are 2 points at the same place... One point is inside the automation item and one anoter point is outside...

The point is snaped at 3.1.00 but when I move the automation item edge it dissapears.

Are we going to have any new updates for AI relative to the bugs/requests above when reaper 6 comes ?? I d like to have Swing function for env points inside AI,it would be very useful.

Double left click on Envelope Panel inconsistency
With a normal envelope (no AIs) when you double left click an envelope panel it selects all points or unselects all points in the envelope.
But if you create an AI on an envelope (even if deleted later) double left clicking the envelope panel only selects all points.

Even if you save and reload a project where you created an AI for an envelope and deleted it double clicking the envelope panel still doesn't work like it does for regular old envelopes. If I get bored enough I'll have to figure out whats being saved/change to the project files and just fix them manually so they act normal again I guess, the devs don't seem too concerned about all these AI flaws.

No, I'm just referring to the points themselves, REAPER is all about consistency after all right? I'm not sure the exact steps it takes to reproduce the behavior but it happens often, the project I just posted in the bug forum ( see post #2) acts that way too. Load it, show envelopes in lanes, then double click an envelope panel multiple times and it only selects all points in that envelope. Note those envelopes in that project were AIs that I ran the action 'delete AI preserving points' on, so once you create an AI on the envelope it seems to screw it up and double clicking the envelope panel will only select all points in the envelope. I'm sounding like an echo so will just stop here!

concluded that double clicking it just selects points with or without AI in in Envelope Panels. After some circunstances which i did not norrow.

Just did a clean portable install of 595_pre6 (just to make sure its not some setting I changed), but by creating an AI from the right to the very left edge causes the same problem, you can't deselect all points by double clicking the envelope panel, only selects all points.
Not all that important but just thought I'd report what I found.

Ya, I think that one has been mentioned many times in various threads already, but it seems to depend which option you have set, although that really shouldn't matter!
A) Options: Automation items connect to the underlying envelope on the right side
B) Options: Automation items do not connect to the underlying envelope
C) Options: Automation items connect to the underlying envelope on both sides
On Win7 here, Using option A or B acts the way you show and creates an extra point, but when option C is enabled no extra point is created.
There are also the "Envelope:" versions of these same 3 actions that let you set envelopes individually, sadly A & B have the same odd behavior. Whats worse is if you do use the envelope version of the actions there is no indication if it is set, I would have expected a button on a toolbar would at least get highlighted if the associated envelope action was enabled when selecting an envelope, it can be very confusing.

apparently there is no AI equivelant of:
Item: Select all other media items that share pooled (ghost) MIDI source data with selected items
and this is would be useful for prosody between items and AI's

Fair point, but the current behavior does mirror what happens when you insert media items.

I think there is a crucial difference between how AIs and MIs are used: AIs are often used as temporary containers to move or copy automation from multiple envelopes, within and among tracks.

That is unfortunately true because there is no area selection in Reaper, so Ai's are being used as a poor workaround since no better way to accurately do that...
