Default Realtec ASIO driver

System: Window 10 64 Bit.

When selecting an audio device I can set "ASIO" and the "Realtec ASIO".
I was astonished that such a thing exists for the internal chipset. Seemingly this driver has been installed by default.

But when trying to use it Reaper says:

"Error initializing ASIO Buffers". Seemingly independent of what I set in the detailed configuration.

I don't find an update for that driver.

What can I do ?

Various Realtek devices have had asio drivers for years. Some only have 32-bit drivers until a couple years ago when some 64-bit drivers were finally released.

Most people didn't notice they have the drivers because sometimes they weren't installed.

If you want to find a more up-to-date version, go to the website of your main board manufacturer and look up your model. See if there are any newer audio drivers available than the version you have installed. In the package for the audio drivers, look for asio. They may not install by default.

Michael,
you can also try to match samplerate, maybe Realtek knows only 48kHz and Reaper or project requires 44k or other... Try different samplerates, one may work. And close all other apps that could use the onboard audiocard (web browser, skype, ...), leaving Reaper as only audio app running.

With appropriate sample rate settings (48000), I indeed can run the project on the ASIO driver with very low latency.

When starting I still get the message, but now simply hittingf "rety" makes the thing going.

Thanks !
