Default New Reaper Messing With My Interface?

Hello,

I haven't touched Reaper in a few months, so this new UI and general update is really messing with me. I usually have a Behringer UMC1820 with 8 channels hooked up to it, and have used it to record music no problem.

But in past month I reset my computer, so today I reinstalled Reaper (with its most recent update) and my Behringer drivers. Reaper reads the Behringer drivers and allows me to add the 8 inputs and outputs like usual, but when I record ready a channel and go to select the input for that channel, it doesn't give me the option to select an specific input, just "input: audio or midi".

Basically, Reaper reads my Behringer and the 8 channels, but when I try to patch a channel into a track, it won't let me select a specific channel

I've attached a few photos, I hope this makes sense.

To narrow the problem down, quickly install the same version of Reaper as portable install somewhere, set up the UMC audio and see if that behaves normally. If it does, then it's not the UMC drivers but something amiss with your normal Reaper config....

Thank you for the reply. Would it help if I said I tested the UMC on another computer with an older version of Reaper, a version I have used before, and it worked perfectly fine? Or do you suggest I still test the UMC on another device with the newer Reaper version?

Update - I updated that version of Reaper to the newer one, then did a test again, and it reads the inputs on that device. The issue must be with Reaper on the original device. Some config settings maybe. I'll look more into it, thanks again!

That's the record format settings button. You are hiding the input selector.

Hide settings are in theme adjuster.

Right click on that round red record arm button, immediately next to where you're clicking.
Go down menu to Input mono
There should then be a list of inputs 1 to 8

Stella645 and nicholas are correct. The problem is that you're clicking the WRONG BUTTON. There are TWO input buttons for each track...

Funny thing. I've always used right click on the record arm button for these things ... it was only after about two years I discovered there was also another way!

IMHO well designed computer programs allow multiple ways of performing tasks because different people are comfortable with different ways of doing things. Best wishes!
