Hi folks! I'm new to Reaper. Quite liking it so far. I think I've finally found my upgrade and can stop using Audition 1.5 after all these years.
Has anyone had any luck controlling Reaper with a Roland VS-100? I'm trying to use its default Mackie compatibility.
I'm running 32-bit Reaper on 64-bit Win7, the VS's Vista x64 driver (installed in Vista Compatibility mode / Admin).
In Reaper Prefs > Control Surfaces, I've tried Mackie Control Universal and Mackie Control Extender. I set the MIDI in and out to "Control (VS-100)" and click OK. Then I receive this message:
Quote:
REAPER Control Surface Error
Control Surface: Error opening MIDI input(s) and output(s)

I know the VS-100 is available to the system, because under Audition 3 (wretched thing that it is) the VS-100 works fine for switching tracks, sliding volumes, etc.
Any ideas? Thanks.
EDIT:
After a reboot, the surface is talking to Reaper. Most of the buttons do things, though their behaviors are a little surprising.
But I've still got the i/o opening error popping up in a dialog when Reaper boots and whenever I press play or record. Playing or recording hangs until the midi error dialog is dismissed, making the surface unusable for engineering from the sound booth.
Still open to ideas. Cheers.
