You may already know my work in REAPER as a scripter, but did you know I don't use it only for scripting ?
My main project in REAPER is an independent humoristic sci-fi audio fiction called Alien 2347.
I'm on it since 7 years, I wrote, recorded and mixed 22 episodes, with more than 40 different actors and 70 characters, almost each episodes has more than 1000 items in it and requires news script to optimize the workflow, I think it has around 80 000 views all episode combined... Big project for me :P
I wasn't able to share it with you cause it is in french, and there is no way to add subtitles to audio track.
At least, there wasn't !
I just designed a fullscreen subtitles system for the soundcloud player, and decided to transcript and translate the first episode of my saga (this first episode is in fact the only one not made in REAPER, I switched just after, but the subtitles workflow involved REAPER deeply). I can now share this epic adventure with you !
Alien 2347 is an independent humorous science fiction audio saga, written and directed by X-Raym since 2012, and telling the story of aliens sent for reconnaissance on Earth in the year 2347.
Through their adventures against the vermoids, parasites which enter people's brains to take control of them, the 6 members of the Earth Explorer mission will be confronted to situations concerning space conquest, human cloning, genetic manipulation, totalitarianism, liberal corporations, political corruption, conspiracy, ecology, free will, and the very concept of humanity.
Not sure that you will like it (and I'm totally okay if you don't), as it has a particular tone, theme etc, but if you want to take a look, it will already make me very happy. If you like sci-fi, humor, absurd, epic music and worm which goes on people brain to take control of their body, this story is for you !
If you enjoy it, I will consider translating the other episodes !
Anyway, thanks for listening !
(note: I'm also actor in it :P)
Note: if you are curious about my workflow, I made a mking of video few weeks ago:
I changed the language to English then pressed the full screen, but the translation remained in French only. I tried refreshing the page with English selected and still French. Am I doing it wrong?
Anyway, the general sound was awesome coming though my speakers. Impactful, I guess would be the right word.
"Let's celebrate with a little dance." hahaha
That was wild. It's was a pretty brilliant idea to color code who was speaking. Made it easier to follow.
If the episode 1 can be considered as a long intro showcasing the overall rythm, humor and characters of the saga,
it is only with the episode 02 that we can understand its scope and other main themes (corruptions, politics, conspirations, parasites..)
So I made I took time to make and translate subtitles for this second episodes, (the occasion to scripts new scripts for REAPER as well);
I'm not sure if I will translate the other cause the amount of english speaking people interested is quite limited, but at least the two episodes are accessible to them... And this is already great!
Indeed music is one core aspect of this project. In next episodes, the moment without it are extremly rare, and new compositions are made to have new themes etc.
Many thx to my friend Enny Harlan for his work on this !
We made a video about the musical compositon process on my channel but it doesnt have subtitles yet ^^
@cyrano
If it sounds good on laptop speakers, imagine how it could sounds with monitor speakers ! :P
Well recording is spread across a lot of different individual session, not everyone is in the same room ! Also it is 50 persons since project begining, first episodes and second is about 15-20.
