Raining Fire (old school progressive metal)
From time to time in the past I have mentioned that I used to play in progressive metal bands in the 80s. For yucks, I mastered a tune called "Raining Fire" tonight from one of my early demos. It was recorded in Breezeway Recording Studio on two-inch tape in October, 1987.

Wow, I didn't expect that. Vocals make it sound like a bit like lost tech thrash Nevermore recording. Sounds like some top tier stuff from its time. So did it stay a demo or there were some official releases?

Zeekat:
Thanks for the good words. No, just demos. There were two more tracks on that one. I did a few more demos after that, but never in a studio that nice.
AdXok:
Thank you!

Yeah, the drum room in that place was amazing. Probably 30 x 50 or so. Wood floor and walls. The drummer's kit was a TAMA, and I bought oil-filled heads for the occasion.

Wow!!! Thanks for sharing! So this is what you call a demo? That is gold.
Amazing, I love the sound. It is so much more organic than today's all-in-the-box productions.

I just found out about these and have been loving them on my toms. Are they worth getting for kick and snare as well? I've been wrapping my snare in an old T-shirt to deaden the decay.

I honestly don't remember. The drummer was a friend who just asked for oil-filled heads as payment.
