Default Mouse Modifiers

If I have selected a context and use shift + double click could I use that same key combination in another context. I looked at the manual but it is so scattered on the subject I got tired of chasing pieces of incomplete information.

Go to:
Preferences > Editing Behavior > Mouse Modifiers

The drop-down list at the top labelled "Context" contains all the contexts. Each context holds its own set of mouse + keyboard (modifier) sets. For example, I have "Context: Media Item" set so Shift + double click sets the time selection to the item.

I have that same configuration for automation items to set time selection to the automation item, but it doesn't have to be that way. It can be set to do nothing, or a myriad of other things.

It's a very open-ended system which lets you work as ergonomically as possible. It's great for people who are used to using other DAW software with varying keyboard & mouse behaviors.
