Default MIDI EDITOR IGNORE REGIONS?

I'm hoping to be able to open any MIDI item in the editor, and see everything in the track displayed like 1 big long region. I don't need the editor to show separations between midi regions. The 1st image I've attached shows what happens when I open up a MIDI region, and you can see that there's another region a few bars later, but you don't see note names, and they're dimmed. The 2nd image shows how I'd like the MIDI displayed. (I glued the items together to make that happen). I'd prefer to not have to constantly glue midi items together to get it to display it how I'd like.

Thanks all for any help you can offer!

I think you can only see note names in editable items. If the item is visible but not editable you won't see note names on them.

In the first picture, I actually can edit them. I'm hoping to be able to view and edit a full MIDI track in one window, without having to glue items to have it display everything well.

Ah wait. There's an option for this. In MIDI editor, View->Piano roll notes->Show velocity and names on active items only.

Yeah, Reaper doesn't have track midi editing yet, the only way around that is to use "full song midi items". That's what I do and it works great.

However, I create my own midi and don't use any loops at all, so that could be a problem if you do.

yeah, no loops here. I think I've finally got things more or less how I'd like them, but yeah, it'd be great if there was full track MIDI editing. There seems to always be a workaround, but a lot of the default settings in Reaper seem very odd to me, and I wonder who they were geared for.

I love that it can all be changed to suit your workflow, but so many of the defaults seem bizarre to me.
