MIDI Edit: Automatically "roll" piano chords?
I've got a midi part meant to be played on a piano patch. Mostly block chords. Quantized right now.
Is there an easy way to "roll" the chords from bottom to top? ie shift the lower notes earlier, or the higher notes later?

Set a mouse modifier of your choice in Preferences > Editing Behavior > Mouse Modifiers (MIDI note left drag context) to one of the "Stretch notes (arpeggiate/chordize)" options.

Does this require a custom tool menu? I don't have those options in my list.
EDIT*** Nevermind, I got it now.

Well...maybe not. I don't see how to add ctrl + left drag to my action.

Amazing! Now...is there a way to do this to multiple chords at once? Currently, when I have multiple selected, clicking and dragging reselects only the one chord.
edkilp: Preferences > Mouse Modifiers
Make sure you see the Context pull-down menus at the top. Set them to MIDI Notes and Left Drag

Yes, that part I understand. But I don't have "Stretch Note Position ignoring snap" in the MIDI Note>Left Drag menu. How do I put it there so it's an option for me to select and assign a modifier to?

ello-^ well, that may be an o.s. thang-- either mac or windoze seem to have different options in reaper?
it may work as wished for,by combining modifier actions?
a seperate expand+compress mode for both notes+cc>> this might be nicer!! (scripts do this now) winkywink.

sure.
so,what settings do you see instead? on mac?
the stretching *should* be variable, depending on exactely where you start to grab with the cursor-- grab@start> middle > end--all have different effect ok.
fl has a really nice set of tools for all this-- there is also a 'slice tool'-- wich user can quickly swipe across any range of midi diagonally to create rolls//fills// etc etc=nicer.
reaper has a lot-- but it misses so much also---lost in a maze of confusing options for people to stumble over---having to spend actual time** comming to stuffy forums-half expecting decent, honest replies, without being trolled, while gathering what some may consider 'gold dust informations''
- simple,basic use operations--it's no joke either.....
look at the amount of people who waste time watching videos (no harm intended to any creators!! or audiences!!) > to simply be able to make music.
cockos and operating systems may need a mighty kick up the arse> to fully arrive into 2019-- 1978 is soooo-yesteryear.

Double-click in the behavior column next to your chosen modifier key.

Seems like you can highlight all your chords, but you have to drag on the highest note. It works here.

ah got it:
It wasn't working for me because the modifier that I assigned to Left Drag for the chords, was set to "select midi notes in measure" for regular left click. I assigned it to "no action" and it works as you said.
Thanks!
