Really complex Reaper control surface for iPad - can we hope for it ?
The new Reaper remote control is really great and ideal for record start/stop etc. I use it permanently on my iPhone.
I wonder if we can hope in really complex remote control suitable for big iPads etc. and containing all the basic functions, big remote control, mix and other parameters (something like virtual Faderport - that would yet surpass it etc.).
See also https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id638394624

etc.
I tried that saitara software AC-7 and AC-X but found it completely unusable
Looking forward to the real Reaper one ...

Just had a quick look at the Avid link, this may already work in Reaper, it's free in the App store.
If you have an iPad, try downloading it and see if it works.
You will have to install the software noted in my sig below, as well as the EuCon software.
Edit: Lol Reynaud beat me as I was typing.

I was going to make a comparison with the Soundcraft UI range of mixers that offer ipad or Android control and which have a fantastic interface and functionality. And I was going to fantasize about what a REAPER equivalent would be like and how that would really put Cockos on the map as people start using REAPER for live sound. And how Serr would start doing tutorial videos with Kenny...
Well I just had a quick look at this :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHB6xLWQL1c
Soundcraft just started offering multitrack recording with their latest version (as opposed to stereo master only on the UI16).

I guess I have a small confession to make.
I still haven't really integrated the newer OSC based touch MIDI control. Between the remote desktop connection for the iPad and the physical MIDI controllers (via wi-fi USB hub) everything just works.
I'm aware that my wi-fi data load could be cut down to a tiny fraction of what RDP uses but... nothing's broken right now and thus laziness has taken over. Along with becoming disgruntled with live sound work and getting into studio projects more.
I still want to incorporate this into the rig one of these days. It's just software updates to existing hardware. I've got it in my head that this would be a couple/few days of learning curve and R&D. Is that wrong and I'm just being stupid? So... I wouldn't mind seeing something from Reaper to simply download to get started either.
I've tried to quiz a few Behringer/Midas or Presonus users about the iPad connection with those out_of_the_box apps as to any lag or other network issues. I'm pretty sure they have them actually and they are actually critical! It's just that many people aren't doing real "hands on" mixing where you make quick moves (like quick tapping in a tempo and turning up a send to a delay for a single word for one example). They push the fader up for the gtr solo and the 3 second lag doesn't even register as a problem for them. What I'm saying is those that aren't complaining aren't being very demanding of the system.
The interference issues I've run into a handful of times were either a shootout with a wi-fi based POS system (that's Point Of Sale, not...) or an old leslie motor that was basically a radio jammer.

Sure!
Either with a remote desktop app or the OSC based stuff. Treat it just like an iPad.

I just entered the 21st century with this old iphone.
So, I know what a remote desktop is (never used one) but I am not sure what OSC is.

But this ProTools control looks really great: several windows (arrange, mix, tracks, soft buttons etc.), big transport control.
Please, make something like this for Reaper )

It's news to me, too. I had to look it up...
This wikipedia article mentions REAPER:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Sound_Control
I hope this means that I can use an old i-pod touch w/ wi-fi.

Only issue is the slow responsiveness in Reaper when adding new tracks which lags a little.
The driver is good enough that I am still half considering investing in Avid's S3, and if the Reaper Eucon portion was still actively developed I would strongly consider investing in an S6.

I don't understand what difference it could make. Macbook Pro with the latest Sierra + iPadPro. All done as per description, then finding Eucon among surface modes, selecting it - OK - and "Reaper quit unexpectedly". All the time again and again
Is the the latest Eucon driver ? https://stash.reaper.fm/v/18477/EuCon%20Beta.zip

Has anyone tried v-control pro? Looks quite interesting and reaper is mentioned as a supported daw.

Ok, so I have tried it ... it works, but it is a bit limited in functions for Reaper
I found Duet Display with a second display on iPad a bit more useful. But I found an unpleasant limitation there - it somehow does not show any "roll out" sub menus (in plugins, settings etc.). You move it to the main display, no problem. Quite strange

Yep, that is an awesome way to control Reaper...especially from the vocal booth
Cant work out why it hasn't caught on more it's a very sophisticated template, not sure if it's going to be developed further.
The one to watch is Metagrid - http://www.metasystem.io/ especially if it locks into the OTR workflow.

Someone made a TouchOSC preset for reaper based on LogicTouch. This Youtube video has a demo and a download link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2QoJzDWVuw
It's not exactly the same as the protools one, but it can do a lot.
It works really well actually!

I’m using Reaper with Superior Drummer 3 to play my drum kit and I would like to use an ipad to control reaper’s mixer and play controls. What’s the best iOS app for that?
TIA!

there are also many web browser interfaces for reaper.
If you want to have a quick look, I developed this specifically for tracking with smartphone:
