Default Making collapsed folders invisible

My theme makes collapsed folders really tiny, whereas other ones make them completely invisible.

How can I get mine to go completely invisible also?

tcp_heights 4 24 49 73 ; supercollapsed, collapsed, small(norecarm), recarm size

from the default theme rtconfig.txt file ... changing the 1st number to 0 should do it for you

Hi Sound Asleep - The zero pixel trick is apparently vulnerable to making unintentional edits to tracks. I read that somewhere here anyway. There's a macro which achieves the same thing which I can't recall right now. I'll have a look when I'm near my laptop if you like.

Oh, shit, thx for the heads up. A macro would definitely be the next best thing, but I noticed Reaction Theme Works this way.

I wouldn't imagine that White Tie made a buggy theme, so I think there must be a way.

I originally thought that the solution proposed was that way.

I think there must be a stable way of achieving this behaviour by default.

Hi Sound Asleep

This macro will do it (you need SWS)

SWS: Save current track selection
SWS: Select only children of selected folders
Track: Hide tracks in TCP and Mixer
SWS: Restore saved track selection

If you can get your head round the cycle editor you can map several macros similar to this to one key and it will toggle the visibility of tracks in the folder you select.

Reaction is not a White Tie theme. The user's name was Silent, IIRC (fantastic theme artist, that's for sure), and I remember that I heavily rang the alarm bell concerning his zero-height supercollapsed child tracks in his theme thread back then (that theme was developed during the v4.0 beta cycle in the pre-release forum). Fact is that the zero-height fake keeps all items on the invisible tracks subject to marquee selection, so it's almost unavoidable to do unintended edits and be pretty surprised. I have no idea why he kept that fake in his otherwise superb theme which came/comes with so many brilliant ideas. I can only guess he counted on Cockos to change their mind and make complete folder collapse possible just in time .

Oh ya, I think you're right actually. Ya, If you can still select stuff that's invisible, then this isn't good.

Would still like to get my folder sizes to switch from medium to normal, rather than include the fully collapsed state, but I made two toolbar buttons that will make all children small, or make all children normal. so that's not so bad.

The problem is that the UI has been forgotten again in the last few years, we really should have custom buttons on the TCP/MCP by now, this would allow macros/layouts to be used and negate these "Selecting hidden" issues while still allowing the familiar folder control buttons on track.

But as is usual people would scream if some hidden themeing (usability) feature was added before some oh so needed "I will use it once in a lifetime" groundbreaking feature

There are many ways to zoom vertically. Try the plus icon in the bottom right of the arrange. Rtconfig file is in Reaper Resources Folder. There's an action to open that directory for you in options menu. I don't recommend messing with it though.
