Well I'm another one fascinated by the default theme - thanks for that - and yet impelled to change the colours a little to my liking.

Thought I'd share it if anyones interested:

thank you, white tie, for a tremendous them and for your thoughts on theming. this theme really plays nice with custom track colors. It is going to be very easy to focus on the project as opposed to trying to figure out the theme.

My appreciation and respects,
White Tie, I just want to second Alex's comments.

You've done a VERY fine job with the default theme . . . it really has all the important elements of a good, professional GUI. Most importantly, everything is extremely clear, and not at all fatiguing to the eye.

But your work that preceded it is also greatly appreciated, even if some of those themes aren't ultimately the ones that get the most use.

Thank you for pushing the envelope with all of this, and for pushing the GUI development in some very good directions.

You've given us all a very solid base to work from with the default theme, and between the default icons and those from other themes (yours and a few others'!), it is pretty easy to do a bit of mix and match for subtle tweaks to satisfy personal tastes.

So . . . thanks for all of your hard work, and thanks for putting up with (and listening to) our comments and critiques!

As the man said . . . credit where credit is due!!!

I have no wish to see it changed, or tweaked. My opinion is you've presented a complete, professional, well designed, face, that enhances Reaper, and enables me to work for longer without getting tired. It's that simple. I have no wish to kiss your backside, or in some way ingratiate myself with you. But credit where it's due from a personal perspective. I've been staring at Daw's a long time now, and suffered much at the hands of those who managed to some how turn elegance into nightmare.

It is a thoroughly refreshing and rewarding change to work without a headache, blurred vision, colour madness, or rising sense of frustration when writing. I get none of that with this theme, quite the pleasurable opposite and that's why i say I will say thank you. Your fine work, and elegant sense of design works for me.

Wearing a white tie and a tuxedo! Excellent work, mate! I definitely had an expectation with the default advanced theme for reaper 2. When I saw it was being done by none other than White Tie, my expectations grew more. And I must say, I am very satisfied, nay impressed. Very easy on the eyes. Pseudo-flat, inverse 3-d effects = very innovative and cool. Very readable, as mentioned before, and easy on the eyes.

These extras are just more icing on the cake. As you have noted, Mr. Tie, reaper users can be a hard bunch to please. But that's what drew us to reaper in the first place, the ambition of perfection is perhaps the only string tying us together. Other than that, tastes and uses tend to vary very wildly!!

So once again, wonderful piece of work! Always look forward to what you have in store!

Thanks all

We now have new transport buttons (for sync and rec modes), here are some alternatives for them:

File is attached, just pop them in the 'default' folder and rename by erasing anything before 'transport'.

Thanks WT!

Now let me get this straight (so I DON'T screw it up!)

I'm supposed to copy & paste these into the default folder and ERASE everything before "transport" (like "mcp_bg" thru "track_stereo").

There's 105 icons before "transport_automation_latch" so... should I get rid of ALL of those or what?

Please let me know WT and THANKS for all you do!

Jamie

No! nononono!

Ooops, that wasn't very clear, sorry. Lets try again....

On just the images you copy into the default folder, rename each of them erasing the prefix. So, for example, rename:

"clock transport_play_sync.png"
to "transport_play_sync.png"

You don't have to do anything with any of the other files.
