Default Workflow to quantize midi drums not played to click?

Hey Reaperites!

I'm looking for some tips/guidance on how best to quantize Midi drums (from an E-kit) that were recorded 'live off the floor', and not played to a click. The tempo is definitely different than the project tempo, to say the least

I've had to do this before, and seem to recall breaking the performance up into sections and then using item properties (and selecting ignore project tempo) to adjust the tempos to notionally line up with the grid. It wasn't pleasant.

Is there a straightforward way to do this? I'd be happy enough to break it into sections and tempo map, then quantize to the map, and eventually remove the map to make the whole thing one tempo. I'm not afraid of putting some manual labour in...but I'd like some hints on what's the best approach.

Looking forward to the answers...

Cheers

K

I found an old guide in this thread here: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=87469

I'll try it out and report back any issues, or new tricks learned here.

Hi,

I've been looking for that thread doc!
I have a custom action now that I use for the final step.
Will post when at computer.

Guido

PS there are newer sws actions breeder made that may help. Look on wiki for ..tempo mapping with sws.
